Noa Eshkol (1924–2007) war eine bemerkenswerte Persönlichkeit, kreativ und vielseitig. Die Tochter des dritten israelischen Ministerpräsidenten entwickelte gemeinsam mit Avraham Wachman ein Notationssystem für Tanz, um »vergängliche« Tanzbewegungen festzuhalten und somit eine dauerhafte Form zu geben. Als während des Jom-Kippur-Kriegs ein Tänzer der Noa Eshkol Chamber Dance Group Militärdienst leistete, begann die Choreografin aus gefundenen oder gestifteten unbeschnittenen Stoffstücken Wandteppiche zu gestalten. Im Laufe der Jahre collagierte Noa Eshkol so aus den unterschiedlichsten Stoffarten und -mustern – vom Uniformstück bis zum Palästinensertuch – aufwendige gegenständliche oder abstrakte Kompositionen, die ihre Tänzer anschließend für sie zusammennähten.
