Kilchoman 2014/2023 - 8 y.o. Bourbon Cask #642/2014
Besonderheiten: Der Kilchoman 2014/2023 ist ein 8 Jahre alter Single Malt Whisky aus der Kilchoman Distillery in Schottland, die 2005 gegründet wurde und die erste neue Brennerei auf Islay seit 124 Jahren darstellt. Dieser Whisky reifte in Bourbon-Fässern und hat einen Alkoholgehalt von 54.8% vol. Die Abfüllung erfolgt in einer Geschenkverpackung. Diese Edition wurde im Juni 2023 abgefüllt und bietet ein Aroma mit rauchigen und fruchtigen Noten.
Tasting Notes:
- Nase: In der Nase entfaltet sich ein leichter Torfrauch, begleitet von maritimen Aromen, etwas Vanille und frischen Zitrusfrüchten.
- Gaumen: Am Gaumen präsentiert sich der Whisky weich und mundfüllend, wobei der Torfrauch und die Vanille erneut in Erscheinung treten, ergänzt durch helle, reife Früchte und leichte Anklänge von würzigem Eichenholz.
- Abgang: Der Abgang ist lang und angenehm süss, mit einer Präsenz von Vanille, Torfrauch, feuchtem Leinentuch und Eichenwürze.
Destillerie/Abfüller: Die Kilchoman Distillery ist die einzige Brennerei auf Islay, die alle Produktionsschritte vor Ort durchführt, vom Anbau der Gerste über das Mälzen bis hin zur Abfüllung. Sie nutzt traditionelle Verfahren wie das Bodenmalzen, bei dem die Gerste manuell gewendet wird. Die Destillation erfolgt in kleinen Kupferbrennblasen, was den gewünschten maritimen Torfrauch und florale Zitrusnoten erzeugt. Diese Abfüllung gehört zur Uniquely Islay Series - An Samhradh 2023.

Best dog ball in the world!

My dog is singularly obsessed with playing ball. He would drop a steak to chase a ball. (He'd return to the steak, but not without the retrieved ball. He's not an idiot.) He makes dangerous leaps, crashes into trees, and runs fast enough to catch thrown balls before they even hit the ground. Since he doesn't care about his own wellbeing, it's my job to protect him as much as I can. And a lot of balls are hard enough to cause him pain or dental damage when he mistimes a catch. Enter the ChuckIt Glow Ball!
The minute Cowboy got his first Glow Ball, he no longer had any interest in the dozens of tennis balls scattered around the house and yard. If I took the Glow Ball away and instead threw a tennis ball, Cowboy would run to retrieve the ball, then return without it and begin looking all over the house for the Glow Ball. The Glow Ball is tough enough to survive Cowboy's big, sharp chompers, yet it's soft enough to do no harm when it hits him in the face. The glow feature is a huge bonus, too. Cowboy gets distracted by chipmunks and squirrels when we're playing, so he sometimes can't remember where he dropped the ball to pursue the interloper. If the ball was exposed to enough light before it was misplaced, it will be easy to find once the sun goes down. (Otherwise, Cowboy always finds it eventually.) When I'm feeling nocturnal, I'll put the ball under a light for a few minutes to activate the electrons, then treat my boy to a middle-of-the-night game of fetch.
I was so happy to see these on sale, I bought a lifetime supply for my pantry. The size guide seems accurate. ChuckIt recommended the large size for a dog of Cowboy's weight and that size is perfect. Highly recommended product.

This is a big ball.
Larger than I thought but still a great toy for a heavy chew pup, easy to toss and won't go under funiture. She has the same ball in a 5 inch size so I know it's quality and will last. Can't wait for Summer, will make a great yard ball.

Second one, first one lasted a good while
We leave it outside in the weather with solid results for our backyard dog, and the dog loves this thing. It's our go to toy for her, ... perfect for kick to fetch, tug of war, hide in the shirt, bump the human leg when it is wet, etc. ;) The first one we used and used and finally it started to show too much weathering, mildew, and finally breaking after like 1.5 years... we have extremely hot and wet weather here. When new though, these balls take a pounding. Our 50 pound dog can play tug of war to the extent we can pick her up while she holds onto the ball with her teeth. The ball doesn't flinch and the dog loves it. Kicking it is fun because you can give it a wallop and it won't go over the fence since the design absorbs a fair bit of the kick energy, but it is still enough for an adult or teen to send it about 1/4 an acre away. What else... oh the dog has a funny habit of finding the one spot that isn't an empty pentagon... as in the plastic is filled in there... and she likes to bit on that part especially during tug of war. I should also mention our dog literally breaks apart and sometimes eats sticks and twigs in the yard, can't be healthy, so a nice diversion is this ball that she will chew on once in a while without destroying it.

Absolutely love this brand of ball for my dog
I end up replacing these every couple years, yep that's right, years. My border collie will grab this ball in his mouth and then kick another ball around. Don't know why he has to have something in his mouth to play soccer, but he is unique. He managed to tear one of these up when he was in his teething stage, but it took him months, and I took it away as soon as he managed to remove a piece of it. Otherwise, we usually lose these much more often than them getting destroyed through constant chewing, and I suspect heavy weathering outside for an extended period of time. Nowadays he doesn't chew on rubber nearly that often, he has developed his own picky preferences. This ball is his must have for playing around. He loves to drop it down the stairs and play fetch with himself. It's easy for him to grab, it isn't heavy so we don't worry about furnishing, walls, or family members when he is tossing it around. It is much more durable than most, with the exception of really heavy chewers/teething, even then it held up for a long time. As long as you are careful to remove it if they manage to chew through I would even try it out with teething puppies. The lawnmower is also this balls nemesis, it loses every time. If only I could convince the dog that he needs to stop sacrificing toys to the lawnmower :-)
