Zink-Schachtanoden werden hauptsächlich in Meer- und Brackwasser verwendet. Zinkanoden können in Brackwasser verwendet werden, wenn der Widerstand nicht zu hoch ist (etwa 1,5 Ωm). Zink ist chemisch stabiler als Aluminium und wird daher von vielen in leicht brackigem Wasser bevorzugt.
