The fog over the mountain side thickened as the dew settled amongst the foliage beneath the trees of the forest. As the first strums from the bard's guitars were struck, the clatter of glass from the drunken dwarves merged together into one seamlessly natural rhythm. Echoing high and low, the roots and bugs beneath the earth began to wake in an effortless march towards fire side. Vibrating at an intensity that even the birds amongst the canopy stirred in their nests and began to warm their vocals. There stood the Midnight Caravan gleaming, emitting a light, beaming a sense of excitement for adventure. It was this ripple that echoed amongst the critters of the forest as an invitation for celebration.

This was a slow moving book. Lots of character pov chapters, lots of superfluous descriptions and endless courtly appearances stalled this book to start. Once you get into the heart of the story, it takes off. Before you know it the book is done. My favorite character is Reyna. She is so strong. She is true to herself. She gets into a lot of trouble with her headstrong ways but it's entertaining. I have high hopes for Lorcan. He is honorable to a fault. Thane had turned out to be better than I thought but i still don't like him. Eislin is useless. Great plot twists at the end. I'm looking forward too book 2.

I loved the camaraderie between Huntyr and her friends. But we don’t like Lanson. 😆 We do have some plot twists that come into play throughout the book. Secrets and betrayal to be seen. I did adore Wolf and Huntyr’s relationship. It was a classic slow burn trope. They didn’t hit it off fast, but in time their feelings grew. I loved their banter, so sexy. Wolf is your next book boyfriend; Huntyr is your next vampire assassin independent bad-a*s female. Themes include loyalty, trust, self-discovery, a true slow burn romance. Side note: book ends on a angsty cliffhanger! • Emily, thank you for writing this awesome novel and I cannot wait to devour Book 2, Blood So Brutal! 😍 • Happy reading, my lovelies! xo
