The different parcels of Sauvignon Blanc have been combined to make a wine that is brimming with pure fruit flavours. The nose is lifted and fresh with notes of passion fruit, blackcurrant and fresh herbs. The sweet fruit characters and crisp acidity, combine to create a palate that is fresh with a zesty mineral finish.
The growing season in Marlborough started out warm and dry, resulting in very even flowering and ultimately balanced vines with the right amount of crop to get them through to harvest. The warm weather continued through Spring and Summer, with periodic rains which kept the vines hydrated through the warm growing season. The warmer conditions meant that harvest started around two weeks earlier than the previous year and the fruit harvested was highly aromatic with a vibrant pure palate.
Individual parcels of Sauvignon Blanc were selected from our Awatere Valley vineyards, where they were harvested separately over a week period. At the winery, the fruit was destemmed and gently pressed. The juice was cold settled, after which the clear juice was racked off, followed by a long cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks to capture and enhance the fruit flavours. The wine was then blended, stabilised and filtered in preparation for bottling. Harvested 4th-12th April 2018.
