Everything you need for dowel joints in this one convenient kit.
Includes:
- (x20) Fluted dowel pins 8x40mm
- (x4) Dowel centers
- (x1) 8mm brad point drill bit
- (x1) 8mm drill stop collar
- (x1) hex key wrench
Application:
The doweling accessory set includes everything needed to conveniently join with dowels.
- The process starts with having the collar fastened onto the drill bit to the correct depth position. In this case it would be 20mm.
- Up to 4 holes per side can be drilled with the 10mm brad point drill to the correct positions.
- The dowel centers are then inserted into the already drilled holes. It is used to transfer the center points to the other piece of wood.
- A rubber mallet or suitable hammer can then be used to transfer the center marks.
- Repeat step 2 to have the correct depth drilled holes on the other side.
- Clean out the drilled holes of excess dust and debris.
- Glue can be then be applied to the holes and the dowels can be inserted. Make use of clamps to keep the join secured until the glue has set.
Dowels can also be used for:
- Furniture shelf supports.
- Supports for hanging items such as clothing, key rings, tools etc.
- Joinery.
Why are the dowels fluted?
The fluting provides channels through which excess glue (which is used to secure the dowel pin in its hole) can escape as the dowel is inserted, thereby relieving the hydraulic pressure that might otherwise split the timber when clamped together.

A Must Have For Sound Deadening Materials

I applied Silex sound deadening material to the rear interior of a Ford Maverick truck cab. Lots of narrow areas, and lots of curved surfaces. This set was a must to properly apply the mats to the metal surface. There were places that I had to push down with my fingers due to obstacles like seat belt mounts, but I could tell that I was not getting the same results as I was with the crimped rollers.

Would recommend

I used this sound deadening material in my car during an audio and interior upgrade, and the difference was noticeable immediately. Road noise, vibrations, and rattling were reduced a lot, especially on the doors and floor panels. The car feels much quieter and more solid while driving now.
The material was easy to cut and apply, and the adhesive stuck very well without peeling up. It has a quality feel to it and conforms nicely around curves and tight areas. I also noticed my speakers sound cleaner and have better bass response after installing it.
For the price, this sound deadening material is a great value and definitely worth it if you want a quieter ride and better overall sound quality in your vehicle.

Worth it!

I was worried it wouldn't work as well since it's 50 mil and I thought I got the wrong thing. Nope! Works great. Did all four doors on my 93 civic and I have enough for the floor I think. Solid price. Noise reduced by about 5 decibels hive difference. Very sticky and easy to apply I'm so happy I was able to cover most all of my car. If I need more, definitely buying this since I got so much extra and I thought I would.
PS: that five decibel thing is only with the four doors. My firewall is next and then my floor, but it's such a huge difference

Quiet your vehicle noises

Put this in our high roof van and couldn’t believe how much quieter it was at once. Really cut down on the vibration noise Nice and easy to install just peel n stick. Was also easy to cut with scissors for smaller areas. Seemed to be really nice quality. Didn’t notice any odor.
