Exhibiting trigonal habit, these Calcites are unique due to the formation of a band of Chalcopyrite along the trigonal edges. Converging at the point where all trigonal sides meet, it forms the distinctive logo of the luxury car maker, hence the tradename. XX089 is matrix free, and the Calcites are highly lustrous with thick Chalcopyrite bands displaying colours
XX089 is a cluster of clear white Calcites affectionately termed "Mercedes Benz Calcite". Exhibiting trigonal habit, these Calcites are unique due to the formation of a band of Chalcopyrite along the trigonal edges. Converging at the point where all trigonal sides meet, it forms the distinctive logo of the luxury car maker, hence the tradename. XX089 is matrix-free, and the Calcites are highly lustrous with thick Chalcopyrite bands displaying colours of gold and silver. The Calcites show striations on the surface, and does not fluorescence under UV. Ideal mounting is vertical to showcase the Chalcopyrite formations.
