Audio-Technica AT-LP3XBT Automatic Belt-Drive Turntable at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The AT-LP3XBT is a fully automatic belt-drive turntable with Bluetooth 5.2 wireless output from Audio-Technica (Tokyo, Japan), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Positioned above the AT-LP70XBT in Audio-Technica's automatic turntable range, the AT-LP3XBT introduces a genuine 8.7-inch straight tonearm with counterweight, anti-skate adjustment, and a removable AT-HS3 universal headshell — enabling full cartridge swaps in addition to stylus upgrades. The integrated AT-VM95C Dual Moving Magnet cartridge outputs 4.0 mV and accepts the complete VM95 Series stylus range. Bluetooth 5.2 supports Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and aptX codecs for high-quality wireless streaming, while the built-in switchable phono preamplifier delivers 252 mV line-level output for wired use. Wow and flutter measures below 0.2% WRMS and signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 60 dB, the strongest figures in Audio-Technica's automatic turntable lineup.

Straight Tonearm, Removable Headshell, and Full Cartridge Upgradability

The AT-LP3XBT's 8.7-inch balanced straight tonearm with hydraulically damped lift control is a meaningful hardware step up from the J-shaped tonearm found on the AT-LP70X and AT-LP60X series. The straight geometry and precision counterweight system allow accurate stylus force setting across the full tracking force range of the AT-VM95C, while the anti-skate adjustment reduces inner-groove distortion on complex musical passages. Most significantly, the AT-HS3 universal headshell is detachable and replaceable, meaning the user can swap the entire cartridge and headshell assembly — not just the stylus — opening compatibility with any standard half-inch mount cartridge. Hydraulic damping in the tonearm lift ensures a consistently gentle, controlled stylus descent onto the record surface, protecting both the stylus tip and the vinyl groove at every play.

aptX Adaptive Bluetooth 5.2, Switchable Phono Preamp, and Damped Chassis

Bluetooth 5.2 with Qualcomm aptX Adaptive codec delivers variable-bitrate wireless audio up to 24-bit/48 kHz resolution, with lower latency and improved RF stability versus standard aptX. The turntable automatically pairs and negotiates the highest mutually supported codec when connecting to a speaker, headphone, or wireless receiver, falling back to aptX if the connected device does not support aptX Adaptive. The 2.5 mW EIRP transmitter operates across 2.402 GHz to 2.480 GHz line-of-sight to approximately 10 metres. For wired use, the built-in switchable preamplifier delivers 4.0 mV phono output or 252 mV line output with 36 dB of RIAA-equalized gain. The damped base construction reduces low-frequency acoustic feedback from speakers or room surfaces reaching the stylus, contributing to the AT-LP3XBT's class-leading signal-to-noise ratio of greater than 60 dB and wow and flutter below 0.2% WRMS.

Key Features

  • Removable AT-HS3 Universal Headshell: Standard half-inch mount headshell detaches for full cartridge swaps, not just stylus upgrades — a unique capability among fully automatic turntables at this price point.
  • 8.7-Inch Balanced Straight Tonearm: Counterweight and anti-skate adjustment allow precise stylus force setting; hydraulically damped lift control ensures a controlled, gentle stylus descent.
  • AT-VM95C Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge: Factory-installed with 0.6 mil conical stylus outputting 4.0 mV nominal; compatible with the full VM95 Series stylus range from conical to Shibata.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Audio-Technica AT-LP3XBT?

The Audio-Technica AT-LP3XBT is a fully automatic belt-drive turntable with Bluetooth 5.2 wireless output, a balanced 8.7-inch straight tonearm with counterweight and anti-skate adjustment, and a removable AT-HS3 universal headshell fitted with an AT-VM95C Dual Moving Magnet cartridge. It supports Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and aptX Bluetooth codecs, includes a built-in switchable phono preamplifier, and achieves a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 60 dB with wow and flutter below 0.2% WRMS — the strongest measured performance in Audio-Technica's automatic turntable range.

How does the AT-LP3XBT compare to the AT-LP70XBT or the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO?

The AT-LP3XBT improves on the AT-LP70XBT in three meaningful ways: its straight tonearm with counterweight and anti-skate replaces the J-shaped fixed-weight arm of the LP70XBT; its removable AT-HS3 headshell allows full cartridge replacement rather than stylus-only swaps; and its signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 60 dB versus the LP70XBT's greater than 55 dB. The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO is a manual turntable without a built-in phono stage, requiring a separate preamplifier and amplifier — its tonearm and bearing system offer higher analogue resolution, but it demands setup steps the AT-LP3XBT eliminates entirely. The AT-LP3XBT is the strongest choice among fully automatic Bluetooth turntables for listeners who also want genuine cartridge upgrade flexibility.

What makes the removable headshell on the AT-LP3XBT significant?

Most automatic turntables at this price point have a fixed headshell, meaning the listener can only swap the stylus within a compatible family. The AT-LP3XBT's AT-HS3 headshell uses a standard half-inch mount and detaches completely from the tonearm, allowing the entire cartridge and headshell assembly to be replaced. This means the turntable is compatible with any standard half-inch mount cartridge, not just the AT-VM95 Series, giving the AT-LP3XBT long-term upgrade potential well beyond what a stylus-only swap can achieve.

What VM95 Series stylus upgrades work with the AT-LP3XBT?

The AT-LP3XBT ships with the AT-VM95C conical stylus. It accepts the full Audio-Technica VM95 Series: AT-VMN95E elliptical, AT-VMN95EX, AT-VMN95ML micro-linear, and AT-VMN95SH Shibata. Each higher-tier stylus provides finer groove-wall contact for improved treble resolution, reduced distortion on inner grooves, and lower record wear per play. Stylus upgrades install without tools in seconds and are available from Vinyl Sound Toronto.

What is anti-skate adjustment and why does the AT-LP3XBT include it?

Anti-skate is a counterforce applied to the tonearm to oppose the tendency of a pivoting arm to track inward across the record surface during playback. Without anti-skate, the stylus presses harder against the inner groove wall, increasing distortion on the left channel and accelerating groove wear asymmetrically. The AT-LP3XBT includes a calibrated anti-skate dial so the setting can be matched to the stylus tracking force in use, including after a stylus upgrade to a higher-pressure profile. Most automatic turntables at this price level omit anti-skate adjustment entirely.

Can the AT-LP3XBT Bluetooth be used simultaneously with the wired RCA output?

The AT-LP3XBT's built-in switchable preamplifier outputs via the detachable dual RCA cable for wired use; the Bluetooth transmitter streams wirelessly via the A2DP profile. Based on B&H's confirmed product Q&A, Bluetooth can also be bypassed and left inactive if wired-only use is preferred. For multi-room setups, users can route the wired output to a local amplifier while Bluetooth streams to a wireless speaker in another room, subject to the 10-metre line-of-sight wireless range.

Where can I buy the Audio-Technica AT-LP3XBT in Toronto or Canada?

The Audio-Technica AT-LP3XBT is available at Vinyl Sound, an authorised Audio-Technica dealer in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound carries the AT-LP3XBT alongside AT-HS3 headshells, VM95 Series stylus upgrades, compatible powered speakers, and a full range of Audio-Technica turntable accessories. Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.

Slightly repetitive but I did love some things
Format: Kindle
I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.
