'The writing shines when recounting the stories behind these herbs, offering a blend of history and botanical fascination' - RHS, The GardenHerbs are wonderful things. Without them so much would not be possible. With the advance of science over the last two hundred years these once mystical plants have changed and saved countless lives, vastly improving our standard of living while providing us all with a much richer, healthier diet. Today, we take for granted a world full oflife-saving drugs, luxury cosmetics and exotic foods.

This fascinating book will tell this story: revealing how poisons once used by the ancient Romans such as Deadly Nightshade are now being used in modern medicine or how the herbs used by indigenous people around the world have provided remedies for countless illnesses. It will explore the myths and legends behind herbs such as the infamous Mandrake and how herbs such as Yarrow are still being used to treat wounds today, just as they were thousands of years ago; and it will show how exotic herbs from across the globe have enriched our livesand delve into the origins of the culinary herbs that everyone knows and loves.

Seventy-five herbs have been carefully chosen to tell the story of how they have each changed our world, looking back at their origins and what was once believed, while comparing this with the modern day uses and the scientific value of these plants enabling the reader to understand and appreciate their importance.

Each double page spread will provide both historic and modern illustrations of each herb alongside captivating accounts of their historical and modern day uses including supplementary botanical and horticultural information for each.

Must Read!
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Easy Read. As a Christian Woman, I am grateful to have read this before my marriage. The wisdom and advice is something I wish my own mother had given me years prior.

Clarify Submission
Format: Kindle
The only thing I wish Elisabeth had covered is the concept of submission must be “as unto the Lord”which means not for the woman to submit to sin but to submit to her husband as she would Christ. Wives can submit as long as the husband is obedient to Christ in not compelling a woman to do something outside of the will of God. If the man is in submission to Christ then so is the wife. That is why it is so important for the woman to pray for her husband at all times.

Amazing book about marriage
Format: Kindle
Excellent read and one every woman should read, especially if she is engaged, newly married, or her daughter is. It contains lots of marriage wisdom and encouragement from a Christian perspective that is missing in today's culture.

A Wonderful Breakdown
Format: Mass Market Paperback
I would like to mention that this is a great book, written by a greatly honored woman. Actually, my most honored author that will, more than likely, ever exist. I think it is alright for men to read this book, to better understand a small part of God's design of their wives or future wives, WHOM, also desires God's design for man and woman. If she does not, things can go bad, for the simple reason of wanting God's design. Also, to know their daughters. On a side note: there are three books (two my Elisabeth) that I think are great on the topic of God's design for the genders that should be read, but not leaned on. God should be the One we put our validation in, not a person or book. Personally, I think that this book should be read only with God, so He can hear all questions and smooth out what is not agreed with, and so it does not create any issues or expectations, and reading it should not be "known" by the spouse for the simple reason that I think it is important that spouses and future ones do not think the other is just listening to a book. Anyways, this is one amazing book pointing to God's design of woman.
