This is a Tako-Hiki knife from Masamoto Sohonten. The Tako-Hiki is a Kanto-style sashimi knife with a long, slender, straight blade designed for pulling clean slices of sashimi. This piece has been carefully used and maintained and has become quite slim from repeated sharpening. For home sashimi preparation it still functions well, and its reduced thickness makes it very light and easy to maneuver. As a Masamoto-branded knife, its cutting ability remains excellent, and it is offered at a lower price because of the slimming.

The knife has a single-bevel Hagane (carbon steel) blade with a keen, refined edge.

It has been sharpened, so it is ready to use immediately upon arrival. Please handle with care when unpacking. The price includes the sharpening fee.

Although the markings are faint, it bears engravings "登録" (Registered), "正本" (Masamoto), and "総本店" (Sohonten), and the handle end is also engraved with "正本" (Masamoto).

This Tako-Hiki is a great value option for those who want a Masamoto sashimi knife for home sushi or sashimi preparation without paying the premium of a fuller, less-used blade.
