Because of it's quick growth rate, in its early stages of growth it can make a great screen before it starts shedding lower branches. It features attractive cinnamon brown bark that scales from the trunk and branches. Loblolly pines have a dark green color to their evergreen needles that are about 2 in. to 4 in. length. As the tree matures it provides shelter for birds. In the early fall they produce reddish-brown pine cones.

The seeds of the pine are a favorite snack of squirrels and chipmunks. This tree is a treasure for the wildlife in your area. This pine tree is hardy in USDA Zones 6-9 and can tolerate most soils. Plant in full sun for best results. It works well planted in mass or as a feature. Water regularly after planting.
