The 3M™ 8214 Particulate Respirator, N95, is a high-performance respiratory protection solution designed to meet NIOSH certification standards. Engineered for demanding work environments, this disposable respirator offers a combination of comfort, durability, and safety. It features a faceseal for a secure fit and is equipped with advanced 3M proprietary filter media, which is specifically designed to promote ease of breathing while maintaining effective filtration of airborne particles.
This respirator is part of the 3M™ 8000 Cup Series and is suitable for applications involving both oil and non-oil based particulates, as well as nuisance-level organic vapors. Select models include the 3M™ Cool Flow™ Exhalation Valve, which helps reduce heat and moisture buildup inside the respirator, making it ideal for hot or humid environments and extended wear. For enhanced fit and comfort, some models come with adjustable noseclips and fully adjustable buckle straps or dual elastic headbands. Additional features such as braided comfort straps and flame-resistant layers further increase its utility in specialized settings like welding or soldering.
The 3M 8214 also incorporates a layer of activated carbon filter media in certain models, offering relief from nuisance levels of organic vapors—concentrations below OSHA’s Permissible Exposure Limits. It is also designed with cake-resistant filter media to help prevent the buildup of particles during tasks such as grinding or sanding. While it does not provide fluid resistance, the respirator maintains a high standard of flame resistance in compliance with ASTM D2859-96.
Suggested uses for the 3M 8214 include welding, soldering, sanding, grinding, sweeping, bagging, and other dusty or particulate-heavy operations. It is widely recommended across multiple industries such as petrochemical manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, general manufacturing, and transportation. With a shelf life of up to 1825 days and a maintenance-free design, this N95 respirator combines safety and convenience for occupational respiratory protection.
