How to Use

Use in therapy mode (switch up, 10,000 LUX) for 20–30 minutes each morning, within one hour of waking. Position the lamp so it projects light downward from above, with your face approximately 12–14" from the screen. You do not need to stare into the lamp — reading, eating, or working normally during the session is fine. Do not use the therapy setting late in the day as it can interfere with your sleep-wake cycle. Use task mode (switch down, 5,000 LUX) for general desk or ambient lighting at any time. Do not wear transition lenses during therapy — they block the light needed for therapeutic effect. Normal prescription glasses are fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Classic Plus and the Day-Light Sky?

These are the two flagship Carex clinical lamps and the specs are nearly identical — both deliver 10,000 LUX at 12–14", both have two settings (therapy and task), both use 4,000K full-spectrum LEDs, and both are height and angle adjustable. The key difference is screen size and form factor. The Classic Plus has a larger 16" x 13" screen versus the Sky's 13.5" x 10" screen, making it the preferred choice for users with severe SAD or anyone wanting maximum light exposure. The Classic Plus is also slightly taller when fully extended (31" vs 27.5"). The Sky has a slightly more compact, contemporary design that some users prefer as a desk lamp. If the screen size matters or if you have been prescribed light therapy for severe seasonal depression, the Classic Plus is the stronger clinical choice.

Which switch position is therapy and which is task?

Switch up = therapy mode (10,000 LUX). Switch down = task mode (5,000 LUX). The light is brighter in therapy mode — you'll notice the difference immediately.

How far should I sit from the lamp?

12–14 inches is the recommended distance for full 10,000 LUX exposure. If you sit further away — say 24 inches — you'll need approximately one hour in task mode (5,000 LUX) to achieve an equivalent therapeutic dose. Sitting closer than 12 inches is not recommended.

Can I wear glasses during therapy?

Standard prescription glasses are fine — they don't block therapeutic light. However, transition lenses (photochromic lenses that darken in sunlight) will darken under the lamp and block the light needed for therapy. Remove transition lenses or use clear glasses during your session.

Does this lamp provide Vitamin D?

No. The 100% UV filter blocks the UV-B rays responsible for Vitamin D synthesis. This lamp is designed for mood, energy, and circadian rhythm support — not Vitamin D replacement. UV filters are a safety feature, not a limitation.

Can I use the lamp for extended periods in task mode?

Yes — task mode (5,000 LUX) can be used for as long as needed throughout the day without concern. Only therapy mode (10,000 LUX) should be limited to your morning session, as extended use late in the day can disrupt your sleep-wake cycle.

Do I need to sit in front of it for the full 30 minutes uninterrupted?

For best results, one continuous 20–30 minute morning session is recommended. If you need to split it up, keep the sessions as close together as possible and complete them in the morning. Using the lamp too late in the day can cause sleep disruption.

Does this lamp work for 220V international use?

The Classic Plus is designed for 100–120V only. For 220V international use, you will need a step-down transformer that converts 220V to 110V. A plug adapter alone is not sufficient.

What is the warranty?

The Day-Light Classic Plus carries a 5-year limited warranty against manufacturer defects. It also comes with a 90-day return policy. Call us at 866-218-0902 for warranty or return support.

Wow it's smooth, soft, not overly scented
Scent: Hair Styler (1 Pack)
I rarely try new hair products. I use Aveda sculpting clay and when I tell most stylists this they simply stop trying to sell me their sponsored hair product since they know how good Aveda is. I've never seen a product as smooth as this; it feels like hand lotion and goes in super easy and has a nice hold with really minimal residue. Feels great to put hand through hair after putting this in. This stuff is really different - I'm a fan!

Not bad but read my full review if you are experimenting with different brands
Scent: Hair Styler (1 Pack)
So I am middle of the road on this product. First, I love the products from this brand and use some of their other products quite regularly. I was on a search for an alternative to the Crew Forming Cream (which I have used for maybe 20 years) and decided to purchase this product by Huron as well as the much cheaper medium hold styling cream by Cremo. All three are great products but you will need to decide for yourself how much hold you need as I have discovered that each are quite different and really shouldn't be compared to one another. I will say that if I had to put them all into two categories then Crew is heavy hold and Huron and Cremo is medium / light hold. I must admit that I was skeptical that the cheaper of the three, Cremo, would win me over but it has. For the record it has a very subtle scent (hardly noticable), just enough hold and does not leave you feeling like you have product in your hair. This is similar to Huron as well (although Huron is a very creamy in texture and you can tell its a higher quality product) but at the end of the day all that matters is great hold from a product that is affordable and does not leave a sticky texture in your hair. Cremo wins hands down. As for Crew, well it was a good ride but too expensive and way too heavy...time to move on.

So lightweight. Perfect for extra thick hair.
Scent: Hair Styler (1 Pack)
Its almost mousse like in how light weight it is and smells fantastic. I wanted something just above light weight hold and not weigh my thick hair down and this does a great job. A little pricey but SO much better than the usual store brands out there. And my wife is totally in love with how great it smells when I put it on, so bonus!

Smells good and doesn’t feel greasy
Scent: Hair Styler (1 Pack)
Product didn’t leave a greasy feeling to the hands or the hair. Kept hold all day for my hair style but I knew it was light hold going in. It has a great scent
