It is in a classic design called Tiga Negeri (three countries).

▪︎ABOUT                                                                  Tiga Negeri is a classic design first created in 1910 by the Peranakan Chinese workshop of Nyonya (Mrs) Tjoa Giok Tjiam based on the Chinese Sam Kok stories of Three Kingdom.

It was characterised by the used of three primary colours in the original design, sogan, indigo and red.

The Tiga Negeri was also made famous by the fact that it was dyed in two or three different cities in Java, Lasem for its red, 'sogan' or brown in Solo and red in Pekalongan. Later generations started introducing other colours like maroon and green as in this piece.

However there are other Peranakan Chinese workshop which started to develop the Tiga Negeri design, like the Ling family under the signature of Ling Sala.
