Yamaha SR-C30A Compact Sound Bar at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The SR-C30A is a compact sound bar and wireless subwoofer system from Yamaha (Hamamatsu, Japan), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. The center unit measures just 600 x 64 x 94mm — more than 30% narrower than a standard Yamaha soundbar — and pairs wirelessly with a compact 5-1/8" subwoofer delivering 90W total system output. Dolby Audio decoding, four sound modes, Clear Voice dialogue enhancement, Adaptive Low Volume technology, HDMI ARC with CEC, two optical inputs, analog audio input, Bluetooth 5.0, Compressed Music Enhancer, Bass Extension, and the Sound Bar Remote app provide a comprehensive feature set in a system designed to fit virtually any room or television placement without compromise.

Compact Design with Original Sound Field Technology

The SR-C30A's 600mm center unit is engineered for televisions and spaces where a full-width 900mm soundbar would be physically or visually disproportionate. Despite its compact footprint, Yamaha's original sound field technology in the SR-C30A goes beyond conventional speaker directivity to create a sound field that appears to originate above the soundbar itself, from the center of the television screen. This produces a more convincing and immersive front soundstage than the cabinet's physical dimensions would suggest, drawing on Yamaha's acoustic engineering heritage from musical instrument development and professional audio applications. The result is a sound field scale that competes with larger soundbars while occupying significantly less horizontal space on a TV stand or wall.

Wireless Subwoofer with Compact Footprint

The SR-C30A includes a wireless subwoofer housing a 5-1/8" driver driven by a dedicated 50W amplifier stage within a 335 x 160 x 364mm cabinet weighing 5.7kg. The wireless connection eliminates a subwoofer cable between the center unit and subwoofer, allowing placement anywhere in the room that maximizes bass response for the listening area. The subwoofer's narrow 335mm width and relatively compact footprint make it easier to position discreetly beside furniture or in a corner compared to the larger external subwoofers included with full-size soundbar systems. Together with the center unit's 20W per channel front drivers and Bass Extension processing, the subwoofer delivers physically felt low-frequency output for action movies, music, and gaming audio.

Adaptive Low Volume, Clear Voice and Four Sound Modes

Adaptive Low Volume is a Yamaha technology that maintains full, expressive sound reproduction at low listening levels, compensating for the natural roll-off in bass and treble perception that occurs when volume is reduced. This makes the SR-C30A equally effective for late-night television watching at low volume as it is for daytime movie playback at higher levels. Clear Voice applies targeted processing to the human speech frequency range, improving dialogue audibility when background music, sound effects, or compressed streaming audio reduces vocal clarity. Four selectable sound modes — Stereo for music and podcasts, Standard for television, Game for gaming, and 3D Movie for cinematic content — allow the sound field character to be matched to what is being played without manual equalizer adjustment.

Connectivity and App Control

The SR-C30A connects to the television via HDMI ARC with CEC support, enabling the TV remote to control soundbar volume and power automatically over a single cable. Two optical digital inputs accommodate multiple source devices simultaneously without input switching cables, and an analog audio input covers legacy sources. Bluetooth 5.0 with SBC and AAC codec support provides wireless audio from smartphones, tablets, and computers within approximately 10 metres. The Compressed Music Enhancer processes Bluetooth audio to restore detail lost during digital compression, improving the perceived quality of streamed music from services that use lossy encoding. The Sound Bar Remote app provides detailed system access from a smartphone for equalizer and mode settings beyond the included remote control.

Key Features

  • Compact 600mm Center Unit: More than 30% narrower than a standard Yamaha soundbar, the SR-C30A fits televisions and spaces where full-width soundbars are impractical.
  • Wireless 5-1/8" Subwoofer: A 50W wireless subwoofer with a compact 335mm wide footprint delivers physically felt bass without a cable run from the soundbar and without dominating the room.
  • 90W Total Output: 20W per channel front drivers plus 50W subwoofer amplifier deliver 90W total system output from the compact two-unit configuration.
  • Original Sound Field Technology: Yamaha's proprietary directivity processing creates a sound field that appears to originate above and from the center of the television screen, producing a larger soundstage than the cabinet size suggests.
  • Adaptive Low Volume: Maintains full, expressive sound reproduction at low listening levels by compensating for the natural reduction in bass and treble perception at reduced volume.
  • Dolby Audio Decoding: Processes Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic II audio from HDMI ARC and optical sources.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Yamaha SR-C30A?

The Yamaha SR-C30A is a compact sound bar and wireless subwoofer system delivering 90W total output from a 600mm wide center unit with two 1.8" cone drivers and a separate wireless 5-1/8" subwoofer at 50W. It includes Dolby Audio decoding, four sound modes, Clear Voice, Adaptive Low Volume, Compressed Music Enhancer, HDMI ARC with CEC, two optical inputs, analog audio input, Bluetooth 5.0, Bass Extension, and Sound Bar Remote app control in a system designed specifically for smaller televisions and spaces where a full-width soundbar is impractical.

How does the Yamaha SR-C30A compare to the SR-B30A or Sonos Ray?

The SR-C30A is 310mm narrower than the SR-B30A at 600mm versus 910mm, making it better suited to smaller televisions and tighter installation spaces. The SR-B30A includes built-in dual 3" subwoofer cones for a single-unit installation and Dolby Atmos decoding, while the SR-C30A uses a separate wireless external subwoofer with a larger 5-1/8" driver for potentially deeper bass and includes two optical inputs and an analog input versus the SR-B30A's single optical. Against the Sonos Ray, the SR-C30A adds a wireless subwoofer in the base package, Adaptive Low Volume, Compressed Music Enhancer, two optical inputs, analog audio input, and Dolby Pro Logic II decoding — features the Sonos Ray does not include at any configuration level.

What is Adaptive Low Volume on the Yamaha SR-C30A?

Adaptive Low Volume is a Yamaha processing feature that compensates for the natural reduction in bass and treble perception that occurs when listening at low volume levels. Human hearing is less sensitive to low and high frequencies at quiet listening levels, which causes music and movie audio to sound thin and lacking in presence at low volume. Adaptive Low Volume applies dynamic equalization that adjusts automatically to the current volume level, maintaining a full and expressive sound presentation whether the SR-C30A is playing quietly for late-night viewing or at full volume for daytime movie playback.

Does the Yamaha SR-C30A support Dolby Atmos?

No. The SR-C30A decodes Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic II but does not support Dolby Atmos. For Dolby Atmos decoding in a Yamaha soundbar system, the SR-B30A and SR-B40A both include Dolby Atmos support alongside similar Clear Voice and Bass Extension features. The SR-C30A's 3D Movie sound mode uses Yamaha's proprietary sound field technology to create an expansive cinematic presentation from Dolby Digital sources without Dolby Atmos metadata.

Why does the SR-C30A have two optical inputs?

Two optical inputs allow two source devices, such as a television and a gaming console or set-top box, to remain connected to the SR-C30A simultaneously without requiring cable swapping when switching between them. Input selection between the two optical connections is managed through the Sound Bar Remote app or the included remote control. This is particularly convenient in setups where the television's HDMI ARC is already used for one connection and a second digital audio source needs a permanent connection to the soundbar.

Where can I buy the Yamaha SR-C30A in Toronto or Canada?

The Yamaha SR-C30A is available at Vinyl Sound, an authorized Yamaha dealer in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound carries Yamaha's complete soundbar lineup and can assist with television compatibility confirmation, system sizing advice for smaller rooms and displays, and purchase. Customers across Canada can contact Vinyl Sound directly for product availability and shipping options.

Does the Yamaha SR-C30A work with any television?

The SR-C30A connects to any television with an HDMI ARC port, optical digital output, or analog audio output. HDMI ARC with CEC provides the most convenient connection, enabling the TV remote to control soundbar volume and power automatically. The two optical inputs accommodate televisions without HDMI ARC, and the analog audio input covers older televisions with only RCA or 3.5mm audio outputs. Bluetooth 5.0 allows wireless audio from any Bluetooth-capable device regardless of television connection type.

Interesting and enjoyable. Looking forward to the 2nd part this year.
Format: Paperback
I enjoyed the book. It's an interesting book on topics that will be very unfamiliar with many people. Because of my own point of view and experience, I would expect that many people would be scoffers. I would have been before my journey changed direction a few years ago. I watch the podcast by Amanda Grace / Ark of Grace on rumble . Com. I have been watching for two years. It was curiosity at first. After a few months of watching, I was blown away by the statements made, months in advance, happening sometimes exactly word for word, other times so close that when I hear an report on TV or radio or immediately reminds me of what I heard on Ark of Grace weeks or months before. It definitely has opened my mind to dig deeper into the word and turn to Him for insight into things I had previously never considered. In the periods of my active faith in my life, I don't remember people speaking about or believing in the power of modern prophetic word or direction by God, except one denomination that I took part in for a couple years. I have to heard more than wants that signs and wonders are no longer present in the modern world which is strange because we were previously, up to and even after the resurrection. It's strange logic to me that that would be impossible these days. It's just what I always heard aside from the one denomination and when I was going to that type of church, I was skeptical about that part because it was unusual for me. One thing I have learned is that nearly EVERY article of faith that ANY denomination or has, there are others that object to that principle. For example: Saints, prophecy, Trinity, purgatory, baptism significance/timing, gifts of the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, covenants in regards to Jew/Gentile, Sabbath day, day and celebration of birth and resurrection days, etc etc. If you consider, that almost every denomination and faith has important pillars of belief that are rejected by OTHER denominations of the same body of the church, there is a lot that we have varying beliefs on in the same religion. I believe the answer is to always turn to Him in faith, guidance and surrender. I try to remember that although the many churches of the faith have many differences, they are all part of the body of Christ and under his authority, not for us to decide which branches are to be removed. It is for us to be faithful to the best of our ability, and to share the light, not try to disown others who practice in their GOOD faith but understand some things differently than we do. (I'm talking about practices not blasphemy) [Luke9. 39Now John answered and said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us." 40But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side.”]

A wonderful combo of the prophetic, scripture and history. Amanda Grace puts the truth into this book. Many little but important facts, truths and meanings to words names places etc to expand ones knowledge of who God is and how we all can get personal with Him. I also love and appreciate the reminders and again the truths of how history repeats itself and how now in 2025 we as Gods ppl need to step up once again and perhaps the last time before the door closes. Religion is man made, the Word is not and this book, well written and easy to take to heart will help anyone looking for truth and help in discerning satans twisted lies from Gods truth The Word. Blessings to all who read...
