AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

"A story that begs to be told. . . engrossing." --The Washington Post

From the first Asian American to be ordained as a rabbi, a stirring account of one woman's journey from feeling like an outsider to becoming one of the most admired religious leaders in the world

Angela Buchdahl was born in Seoul, the daughter of a Korean Buddhist mother and Jewish American father. Profoundly spiritual from a young age, by sixteen she felt the first stirrings to become a rabbi. Despite the naysayers and periods of self-doubt--Would a mixed-race woman ever be seen as authentically Jewish or chosen to lead a congregation?--she stayed the course, which took her first to Yale, then to rabbinical school, and finally to the pulpit of one of the largest, most influential congregations in the world.

Today, Angela Buchdahl inspires Jews and non-Jews alike with her invigorating, joyful approach to worship and her belief in the power of faith, gratitude, and responsibility for one another, regardless of religion. She does not shy away from difficult topics, from racism within the Jewish community and the sexism she confronted when she aspired to the top job to rising antisemitism today. Buchdahl teaches how these challenges, which can make one feel like a stranger, can ultimately be the source of our greatest empathy and strength.

Angela Buchdahl has gone from outsider to officiant, from feeling estranged to feeling embraced--and she's emerged with a deep conviction that we are all bound to a larger whole and mission. She has written a book that is both memoir and spiritual guide for everyday living, which is exactly what so many of us crave right now.

NOT SLIM FIT.
Size: Large, Color: White
NOT A SLIM FIT. Misleading. White is off-white, cream. Not neutral, bright white. Decent material. Ok quality. Textured, thin but not too thin. Dressy, not very casual.

nice shirt for the price
Fit Type: Slim Fit, Color: Light Blue/Indigo, Plaid, Size: XX-Large
I am quite impressed with this shirt. It fits well and was priced great. Be forewarned though it does wrinkle. You almost have to iron it each time you wear it. The shirt fits really well though given the fact it is cheap it fits me perfectly. I stand at 6'2" and am 230 pounds. It runs true to size. The fabric is not very thick yet it is not very breathable either. The shirt is lightweight but not much of a breeze flows through the shirt. It is for work and I did not want to spend a ton of money on a shirt that may get ruined or messed up. So far it is holding up quite well and I foresee it being durable for years if I take care of it. It is cotton or feels like cotton which is nice because it is getting more difficult to find a shirt which is not some type of synthetic fabric. It will keep you warm on chillier days but there is a good chance you could be overheated on the warmer days.

Great fabric & plaids! Quality construction.
Fit Type: Slim Fit, Color: Light Blue/White, Plaid, Size: X-Small, Fit Type: Slim Fit, Color: Light Blue/White, Plaid, Size: X-Small
"Light Blue White Medium Plaid" has an overall pale aqua coloring, well represented by the product photos. it's even prettier in person, with a pale purple/pink stripe and other subtle touches. 5 STARS FOR: - Fabulous 100% Cotton fabric gets better with every wash. - Thin (but sturdy) fabric, comfortable working outside in hot, humid SW Florida. - OFFERING XS SLIM-FIT: Finding this XS in a slim fit Men's shirt was a game changer for me, a slim 5'7" woman with long arms, broad shoulders and slim hips. The AE Women's version of this shirt is boxy with laughably short sleeves, and is not offered in slim fit! - Quality construction throughout. Good attention to detail, eg, matching patterns at the pocket and front placket. - FABULOUS PLAIDS, many are unique and subtly complex. - ATTRACTIVE COLOR OPTIONS, lots of different Blues. I've also enjoyed the paler (some might consider more feminine) colors like lavender, pink and pale aqua. - UNBEATABLE PRICING, ESP ON SALE. At full price, these would be a good purchase. I put my favorites into the shopping cart, and wait to be notified of sale prices. I've purchased five shirts for under $10 each, by watching for sales. PAID: $7.67 on 1/24/2026 for XS in "Light Blue White Medium Plaid".

Comfortable and well made.
A well-made, cotton shirt, suitable for casual wear. I like to wear this in the summer untucked with the sleeves rolled up over a colored t-shirt. I found the tail of the shirt to be a bit too long to wear untucked without looking odd, so I had it shortened; now it fits perfectly. It is made of cotton, so an iron is mandatory if you don’t want to look like you slept in it, and it will get some wrinkles as the day progresses, but that’s cotton’s nature. I liked it so much I purchased a second one.

Nice shirt, runs a tad small.
Fit Type: Slim Fit, Color: Light Blue/Indigo, Plaid, Size: X-Large
I guess that slim-fit is not for my hubby and this is a little too fitted across his pooch belly. But he loved the blue color plaid. Fits well elsewhere. If you're not a flat-stomach, dont bother with slim-fit I guess.
