Art Deco Britain: Buildings of the interwar years

The perennially popular style of Art Deco influenced architecture and design all over the world in the 1920s and 1930s - from elegant Parisian theatres to glamorous Manhattan skyscrapers. The style was also adopted by British architects, but, until now, there has been little that really explains the what, where and how of Art Deco buildings in Britain. In Art Deco Britain, the late, great Elain Harwood - leading expert and passionate advocate of modern British architecture -brings her trademark clarity and enthusiasm to the subject as she explores Britain's Art Deco buildings.

The book covers some of the best-loved and some lesser-known buildings around the UK, such as the Midland Hotel in Morecambe, Eltham Palace, Broadcasting House and the Carreras Cigarette Factory in London. Beautifully produced and richly illustrated with architectural photography, this is the definitive guide to a much-loved architecture style.

Mid-Century Britain: Modern Architecture 1938–1963

Here the late, great Elain Harwood - leading expert and passionate advocate of modern British architecture - gives the best overview of modern British architecture from 1938 to 1963.

Postwar Britain architects often saw architecture as a powerful means to improve the quality of our lives after the shadow of war. This is the fascinating story of what they built to meet that challenge.

Growing in popularity and with an increasing understanding of their importance as a background to our lives, the buildings range from the Royal Festival Hall, Newcastle City Hall and to Deal Pier and Douglas ferry terminal, from prefabs and ice cream parlours to Coventry Cathedral and the Golden Lane Estate. The author writes in non-technical, layman’s language about the design, architecture and also the influence of these buildings on the lives of our towns and cities.

Best I’ve found yet for facial psoriasis
Anyone who has facial psoriasis will tell you there are not a lot of products that you can put on your face without irritation or flareups. This soap is just what I needed. There are no irritating chemicals or perfumes in this soap. I have read other reviews that the soap does not last very long but there is a way to use it to make it last. First, I wet my face and then I wet my fingertips and rub my finger tips across the dry bar of soap and then lightly rub my face with my fingertips softening the plaques and then lightly wash with a soft cotton washcloth. It is not really moisturizing but not over drying either. I follow up with an organic vegetable-based glycerin oil to moisturize. This is the best product I have found yet.

Heals skin
It definitely dries out your skin quickly but I do recommend moisture so the skin won’t crack or you get open cuts as your dermatitis is healing. I have dermatitis really bad where my skin drys and hurts when I have a cut, So far it’s working as intended.

THIS ITEM WORKED WONDERS FOR ME..
DURING THIS WINTER SKIN PROBLEMS WERE PRESENT SO I TRIED THIS ITEM, AT FIRST I NOTICED THAT IT MADE MY SKIN FEEL REALLY DRY BUT IT DID CALM MY SKIN DOWN TO THE POINT WHERE THE ISSUES, WHICH WERE BECOMING INTENSE, JUST DISAPPEARED AFTER I USED IT 2-3 TIMES EVEN ON MY FACE, SO PERHAPS DRYNESS IS WHAT ENDED MY SKIN ISSUES (PSORIASIS) I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN THE PAST USING OILS AND CREAMS WHICH HAVE MADE MY ISSUES WORSE SOOOOOO THIS ITEM WAS A SUCCESS FOR ME.
