A large charming antique French walnut oil jar crafted from pottery and adorned with a glaze. An exquisite piece complete with original lid, spout and three handles. 

These jars were originally used to store walnut oil and were often dug in the ground, for which they are particularly known in Auvergne, France. This particular jar dates back to the early 18th century and is completely characteristic of these types of jar. A hugely decorative piece with nice patination.

There has been a repair in the lip of the pot and a noticeable seam where the pot has been glued back together (please refer to ninth photograph).
