OZ Armour Pre-Drilled Full Depth Beehive Box — Flat Pack | Finger Joints | Premium Knot-Free NZ Pine | 8 & 10 Frame

Not all beehive boxes are created equal. If you’ve ever assembled a lower-grade flat pack box only to find the joints don’t quite fit, the corners leave gaps, or the timber starts warping after a season or two, you’ll understand why the timber and construction method matter so much. The OZ Armour Pre-Drilled Full Depth Beehive Box is built to a higher standard, and every detail has been carefully thought through for Australian beekeepers who want a box that performs season after season.

The Timber — Why NZ Pine Makes All the Difference

New Zealand pine has earned a strong reputation in beehive construction for very good reasons. Grown in managed plantation forests in New Zealand, this timber is prized for its consistent grain, natural strength, and remarkable stability. It is significantly less prone to warping, twisting, and cracking compared to many other softwoods used in lower-grade beehive boxes.

Crucially, our boxes are crafted from knot-free NZ pine. Knots in timber are weak points where the wood grain is disrupted and can crack over time, creating structural weak spots and rough surfaces that are harder to paint and seal. Knot-free timber is cleaner, smoother, and far more durable — and lasts longer. When you’re investing in beekeeping equipment that you want to use for ten or more years, starting with knot-free NZ pine is the smart choice.

22mm Walls — Built for Insulation and Temperature Control

Unlike many standard beehive boxes on the market, which are typically 19mm thick, our boxes are milled to a generous 22mm. That extra thickness acts as a natural insulator — keeping the hive cooler in the harsh Australian summer and retaining warmth in the brood box during winter, helping the colony maintain the critical temperature needed for healthy brood development. Less energy spent on temperature regulation means your bees can focus on what they do best — foraging, brood care, and honey production.

The Problem With Lower-Grade Beehive Boxes

Many lower-grade boxes on the market are made from timber that hasn’t been properly dried or stabilised. Over time — sometimes within a single season — this timber expands and contracts with changes in humidity and temperature. The result is boxes that no longer fit together properly. Corners warp, joints pull apart, and gaps appear between the panels.

Small hive beetles are opportunistic pests that exploit even the tiniest entry point to gain access to the hive. A warped box with poor-fitting joints is an open invitation. In some cases, beekeepers find themselves reaching for a chisel to reassemble a box that has swelled and seized. With the OZ Armour box, knot-free NZ pine and precision manufacturing ensure the timber remains stable, and the joints fit exactly as they should — year after year.

Finger Joints vs Rebated Joints — Why It Matters

Many lower-grade boxes use rebated (or dado) joints — a simple groove that another panel slides into. These joints can loosen and pull apart over time as timber moves with the seasons.

Our boxes use precision finger joints — an interlocking pattern of rectangular tabs and slots that mesh together at each corner, dramatically increasing the bonded surface area. Finger-jointed boxes are rigid, tight, and exceptionally strong — simply the best construction method available for beehive boxes.

Pre-Drilled and Ready — Half the Work is Already Done

This box arrives pre-drilled and includes all the screws you need. Pre-drilling ensures the screws go in cleanly every time without splitting the timber. This is a flat pack box, but half the labour has already been done for you. All you need to do is apply glue to the finger joints, lock the panels together, and drive in the screws. Most beekeepers have a box fully assembled in just a few minutes.

Finishing Your Box — Priming, Painting and Gluing

We strongly recommend gluing the finger joints during assembly for maximum strength and weather resistance. Once assembled, prime and paint the outside before use. Apply one coat of water-based primer first, followed by at least two coats of exterior paint. Light colours such as white or soft pastels are recommended for Australian conditions, as darker colours absorb more heat and can raise the internal temperature of the hive.

Never paint the inside of the box. Bees prefer natural bare wood on interior surfaces and may be reluctant to draw comb in a painted box.

So lightweight, so smooth
I was looking for a retinol eye cream and decided to try this since I liked this brand before. The texture is super lightweight and absorbs well, and my makeup doesn’t pill at all after using it. Not sure yet about long-term wrinkle results, but it keeps my under-eye really hydrated and smooth. I’ve also been using it on my smile lines. lowkey excited to see more results!

Helped a bit with barrier, but it must be used very sparingly, and didn't improve fine lines for me.
I had mixed feelings about this eye cream. On paper, the combination of ingredients such as retinol, niacinamide, and centella sounded promising, especially for targeting texture and supporting the skin barrier. However, in practice, I found the formula to be a bit too strong for my sensitive eye area. I had to be very careful not to apply it too close to my eyes to avoid irritation. The cream is very thin and lightweight, and I found that it did absorb well without leaving too much of a greasy residue once applied. After about two weeks of consistent use, I did notice some positive changes. The skin under my eyes felt slightly more elastic, and my skin barrier seemed to be benefiting overall, which I appreciated. That said, I didn’t see any real improvement in fine lines or firmness, which is one of the main reasons I reach for an eye cream with retinol in the first place. The price point is definitely affordable, but it also feels like a case of getting what you pay for. While it’s not a bad product, it didn’t stand out enough for me to consider replacing my regular eye cream. At the end of the day, skincare is a long game. What we do now often shows up years down the line, so I do think it’s worth investing in higher-quality formulas when possible. For me, this one was just okay: some mild benefits, but ultimately unremarkable.

Pleasantly surprised
I’m two jars in and love it. I do use Botox, retinol, a good face wash, wash moisturize twice daily, etc etc. I struggle with moisturizer because I’m prone to breakouts. Idk what it is about this one but my skin loves it. It feels refreshed and soft. Added bonus, my eyebrows and lashes have gotten longer and darker quick! Obviously we all respond differently to products but I’ll be keeping this in my rotation

A thick and rich cream that smooths on nicely!
So I jumped on the Korean skincare bandwagon and decided to purchase some of the DR MELAXIN Products to try! I read many good reviews and decided it was worth the money. This first product is the Dr Melaxin Calcium cemenrete calcium volume cream. It comes in a 1.76 ounce glass jar. On the label there is a lot of word descriptions so I will add a few: Ex volume firming, rebornic 10,000 ppm hydrolyzed elastin and collagen extract. I have photographed label for viewing. The directions indicate to "apply a small amount of cream onto your face especially around the under-eye area". I found the cream thick and rich and I used it in addition to another Dr Melaxin neck and face product so I concentrated on only neck and under eye area. It is neutral in scent and is very thick so it feels like it is absorbing nicely. I have been using it for about a month now and have definitely noticed some improvement in the neck area so i will continue to use and layer with other products. I do recommend this line as the ingredients seem effective so far!

Good product for face.
Great product. Works well with decreasing lines in face after half is used and with the serum. It does leave somewhat of a sticky (not grimy) texture which is uncomfortable if using at night.
