This is a fully functional shinken, featuring a distinctive red-lacquered bohi running along the length of the blade. The sword is unsigned (mumei) but showcases the refined craftsmanship.
The blade has a cutting length of 66.4 cm and a moderate curvature of 0.8 cm, making it responsive and well-suited for traditional martial arts such as iaidō, battō, and tameshigiri.
The koshirae is complete and decorated with fittings. The iron tsuba features inlay work with foliage motifs, while the menuki depict dragons in rich gilt detail. The fuchi-kashira present karajishi (Chinese lions) in high relief, adding a sense of power and prestige. The tsuka is wrapped in traditional materials over samegawa (ray skin), providing a secure grip suitable for real use. The saya draws smoothly, revealing the vibrant lacquered groove.
