This M18 HMI System with High-Speed Electronic Ballast ALF and DMX from ARRI includes the M18 HMI Lamphead, a high-speed ballast, barndoors, and a 50' head/ballast cable.

The M18 HMI lamphead combines MAX technology with True Blue features. MAX technology is an ARRI-patented reflector design that is lenseless, open-face, and bright with a focusing range of more than 35�. The M18 can be adjusted from 20� to 60� and has a 70% higher light output than a similarly sized 1200W PAR lamp head. For further control of the light's spread, a set of barndoors is included with the system.

The M18 can use existing 575, 1200, or 1800W cables. It is designed for use with an 1800W lamp, but can also be used with a 1200W lamp and ballast as well. Cross-cooling allows the lamp head to be safely operated at any tilt angle, and the True Blue tilt lock is able to hold heavy light modifiers.

To power the light, this system includes the 1,200/1,800W high-speed electronic ballast with Active Line Filter and DMX control. ALF provides a higher Power Factor resulting in more efficient power use. This is accomplished by shifting the voltage and current waveforms in phase and minimizing harmonics and spikes. The ALF also minimizes the current carried back on the neutral leg of the power systems. A 50' cable is provided to connect the head to the ballast.

• M18 HMI Lamphead (110/220VAC)

  ARRI 's M18 HMI Lamphead (110/220VAC) is a newly designed, more efficient lamphead built to work with a new power class of lamp--the 1800W SE HMI (not included), which has an average life of 750 hours, a luminous efficacy of 92 lumens/watt, and a Color Rendering Index (CRI) greater than 90 at 6000K. The M18 is an open-face, lensless fixture that combines the characteristics of a PAR and a Fresnel, creating diverging rays of light to produce a very crisp shadow. It can operate on a 20A circuit. This lamp has a beam angle (HPA) of 20 to 60�, with a wide usable field angle. The lamphead is silver.

• Head to Ballast Cable 575/1200/1800W - 50'

  This is an ARRI Head to Ballast Cable . The 50' (15.2 m) long cable is compatible with 575, 1200 and 1800W heads such as the ARRISUN 5, 12 Plus, 18, and 40/25 heads. It's also compatible with the ARRIMAX M18, the ARRI X X5 and X12, D5 and D12 Fresnels and the Compact 575 and 1200 heads.

• Four Leaf Barndoor Set for Arri T5 & ST2 Studio Fresnel

  This is an Arri Four Leaf Barndoor Set that fits both the T5 and ST2 Fresnel fixtures. Barndoors attach to the front of a light and are used to restrict light from areas of a set. Arri barndoors are heat resistant and rotatable.

• 1200/1800W High Speed Electronic Ballast

  The ARRI 1200/1800W High Speed Electronic Ballast is a flicker-free power supply for 1,200 or 1,800W tungsten lamp heads. Compatible heads include the AS18, M18, Compact 1200, AS12, ARRI X 12 and D12.

  This ballast supports DMX control and employs ALF technology to reduce interference as well as CCL technology to compensate for power loss when using cable up to 300' long. ALF provides a higher Power Factor resulting in more efficient power use. This is accomplished by shifting the voltage and current waveforms in phase and minimizing harmonics and spikes. ALF also minimizes the current carried back on the neutral leg of the power systems. The multi-voltage ballast is dimmable from 100 - 50%, has an IP21 rating indicating moisture resistance and is CE compliant.
