The character front panel
The front of the dome is the face — beak, eyes, horns depending on your design. Two wood-style button fasteners on the sides hold it upright as the cave entrance wall. Undo the buttons and it folds flat to extend the bed floor, giving your pet a larger lounging surface when they are not in full cave mode.
Proper enclosed cave shape
The dome is not decorative — it is a genuinely enclosed sleeping space. Cats that prefer to feel hidden (most of them) and anxious small dogs get a den with walls on all sides and a roof overhead. The ridged panel exterior adds structure so the dome holds its shape rather than collapsing inward under weight.
Three sizes, one simple rule
Small (38×37×29cm) suits cats and toy breeds up to around 3kg. Medium (42×40×32cm) covers most cats and small dogs to about 6.5kg. Large (49×45×38cm) handles bigger cats and small-to-medium dogs up to around 10kg. When in doubt, size up — a bed that is slightly too large is fine; one that is too small will be ignored.
Removable inner cushion
The inner cushion lifts out so you can clean it separately without moving the whole bed. For households with multiple pets or heavy shedders, this makes a real practical difference — you are not dragging the entire dome to the washing machine every time.

Honest notes
Sizing: The weight guides are approximate. If your cat is borderline between sizes, choose the next size up. A cave that is slightly too large is used; one that is slightly too small will be avoided.
Cave introductions take time: Some cats walk straight in. Others take a few days to accept a new bed. If yours is hesitant, place a worn item of your clothing inside and give it a week before drawing conclusions.
Front panel: The button fasteners are designed for normal human handling — they are not intended to withstand persistent chewing or pulling by a determined dog. If your dog has strong destructive tendencies, keep the front panel folded flat as an open mat rather than leaving it upright unsupervised.
Washing: Remove the inner cushion before washing. Check the care label for your specific item. Do not tumble dry the outer dome on high heat — the dome structure can deform.
Questions & answers
Is this suitable for dogs as well as cats?
Yes — the lifestyle images show both. The key is size. The Small suits cats and toy breeds (Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier). The Medium works for most cats and small dogs up to about 6.5kg. The Large covers bigger cats and breeds like Miniature Schnauzers or Cocker Spaniels up to around 10kg. It is not suitable for medium or large dogs.
What does the front panel actually do?
The front of the dome is designed as the character's face — eyes, beak, horns depending on the design. Two button fasteners on the sides hold it upright, forming the entrance wall of the cave. Undo those buttons and the panel folds flat onto the floor, extending the sleeping area into an open mat configuration. It is two beds in one setup.
How do I know which size to order?
Use the weight guide: Small for pets up to ~3kg, Medium for up to ~6.5kg, Large for up to ~10kg. If your pet is right on the boundary, go larger. Cats in particular like a cave they can fully curl inside with a little room to spare — too tight and they will choose the sofa instead.
Can I wash it?
The inner cushion is removable and can be washed separately. For the outer dome, follow the care label on your specific item. As a general rule, a gentle machine wash or hand wash works well; avoid high-heat tumble drying as the dome structure can deform. Washing the cushion regularly and spot-cleaning the dome exterior will handle most day-to-day maintenance.
My cat is ignoring the bed — is that normal?
Very normal. Cats assess new objects on their own schedule. Place a worn item of your clothing inside the cave for a few days — your scent is reassuring. Position the bed somewhere your cat already likes to rest rather than somewhere you think looks nice. Most cats come around within a week; some take longer. Patience is the main ingredient.
Are the button fasteners safe?
The wood-style buttons are decorative fasteners designed for normal use — they hold the front panel in position. They are not indestructible. If you have a dog that chews or pulls at things persistently, fold the front panel flat (open mat mode) rather than leaving it upright when unsupervised.
