This classic design is called Tiga Negeri. It was first created in 1910 by the Peranakan Chinese workshop of Nyonya (Mrs) Tjoa Giok Tjiam based on the Chinese Sam Kok stories of Three Kingdom.

It was characterised by the used of three primary colours, sogan brown, indigo and red.

The Tiga Negeri was also made famous by the fact that it was dyed in two or three different cities in Java, Lasem for its red, sogan brown in Solo and indigo in Pekalongan.  

The Tjoas last produced Tiga Negeri in 2014, making it a much sought after piece. This piece is signed by Tjoa Siang Swie, who is the fourth generation of the Tjoa family who produced the Tiga Negeri. It is in 'pagi sore' (morning evening) design, one half is with deer motif, the other in duck, bird and insect motifs.
