AudioQuest Angel Turntable Cable 1.2M at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The AudioQuest Angel is a high-performance RCA-to-RCA analog interconnect from AudioQuest (Irvine, California, USA), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Designed specifically for turntable connections, the Angel features Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) conductors, a 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS), and Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation (NDS), making it one of the most technically advanced phono cables available at its level. The 1.2M cable includes an integrated ground wire and terminates with cold-welded, direct-silver plated pure red copper RCA connectors.

Solid Perfect-Surface Silver Conductors

The Angel uses solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) conductors throughout, eliminating the strand-interaction distortions produced by stranded wire designs. Solid conductors prevent the micro-arcing between strands that introduces noise and smearing into low-level phono signals. PSS silver further minimizes grain-boundary distortion and maximizes linear RF noise dissipation along the conductor surface, preserving the fine detail and transient accuracy that moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges are capable of resolving. The result is a lower noise floor and greater retrieval of low-level musical information from the groove.

72V Dielectric-Bias System and Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation

All insulation surrounding a cable's conductors acts as a dielectric, absorbing and releasing energy from the audio signal in a non-linear, frequency-dependent manner that causes phase shift and smearing across the audible spectrum. AudioQuest's 72V Dielectric-Bias System addresses this by applying a constant DC field to the FEP Air-Tube insulation, preventing it from participating in signal energy exchange. An integrated RF Trap, developed from AudioQuest's Niagara power product research, prevents radio-frequency noise from the DBS field elements from reaching the signal conductors. The Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation System adds alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded synthetics around the shield, absorbing and reflecting RFI before it can modulate the ground reference and distort the signal, a problem inherent in conventional single-layer shield designs.

Key Features

  • Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) Conductors: Solid-core silver conductors eliminate strand interaction and minimize grain-boundary distortion for maximum signal purity.
  • 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS): Patented active biasing of the cable's insulation prevents dielectric energy storage and phase shift across the audio bandwidth.
  • FEP Air-Tube Insulation: Positive conductors use FEP Air-Tube geometry with minimal metal-to-insulation contact, preserving dynamic contrast and signal integrity.
  • Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation System (NDS): Multi-layer shielding absorbs and reflects RFI before it reaches the ground plane, eliminating the ground modulation caused by conventional shield designs.
  • RF Trap: Niagara-derived RF trap prevents radio-frequency noise from the DBS battery pack from coupling into the signal conductors.
  • Cold-Welded Direct-Silver Plated Terminations: Pure red copper RCA plugs are plated directly in silver with no nickel underplating, and terminated via cold-weld process to avoid solder-related signal degradation.
  • Integrated Ground Wire: Includes a dedicated ground wire for secure connection to the turntable's ground post, eliminating hum in phono-stage setups.
  • 1.2M Length: Standard turntable interconnect length suited to most turntable-to-phono-stage or integrated amplifier configurations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the AudioQuest Angel turntable cable?

The AudioQuest Angel is a 1.2M RCA-to-RCA phono interconnect designed for connecting a turntable to a phono stage or integrated amplifier. It uses Solid Perfect-Surface Silver conductors, a 72V Dielectric-Bias System, Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation shielding, and FEP Air-Tube insulation, placing it among the most technically refined turntable cables available. The Angel includes an integrated ground wire and terminates with cold-welded, direct-silver plated pure red copper RCA plugs.

How does the AudioQuest Angel compare to the AudioQuest Golden Gate or Mackenzie phono cables?

The AudioQuest Angel sits above the Golden Gate and Mackenzie in the AudioQuest phono cable lineup. The Golden Gate uses Solid Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) conductors and a simpler single-layer shield without Carbon-Based NDS, while the Mackenzie adds FEP Air-Tube insulation but still uses PSC rather than PSS silver conductors. The Angel steps up to Solid Perfect-Surface Silver and adds the full 72V DBS system with RF Trap, making it the appropriate choice for high-resolution cartridges such as the Ortofon Cadenza series, Audio-Technica ART9, or Dynavector XX2 where low-level signal retrieval is critical.

What is the AudioQuest Dielectric-Bias System (DBS)?

The AudioQuest Dielectric-Bias System is a patented technology that applies a constant 72-volt DC field across the cable's insulation using a small battery pack attached to the cable. Cable insulation acts as a dielectric, absorbing and releasing signal energy in a frequency-dependent way that causes phase shift and smearing of audio detail. By maintaining a constant electrostatic field, DBS prevents the insulation from participating in signal energy exchange, eliminating this form of distortion entirely. The RF Trap on the Angel version prevents the DBS field from introducing radio-frequency noise into the signal path.

Does the AudioQuest Angel work with both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges?

Yes, the AudioQuest Angel is compatible with both moving-magnet (MM) and moving-coil (MC) cartridges. The cable connects between the turntable's tonearm output and the phono stage input regardless of cartridge type, and the included ground wire attaches to the turntable's chassis ground post to eliminate hum. For low-output moving-coil cartridges in particular, the Angel's PSS conductors, Carbon-Based NDS shielding, and 72V DBS are especially beneficial in preserving the extremely low signal levels these cartridges produce.

What is Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation and why does it matter for phono cables?

AudioQuest's Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation System is a multi-layer shield design that uses alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded synthetic material to absorb and reflect RFI before it reaches the cable's ground connection. Conventional cable shields absorb RFI and drain it directly to component ground, which modulates the ground reference and introduces a form of distortion into the signal. For phono cables, where signal voltages can be as low as 0.2mV from a moving-coil cartridge, ground noise introduced by a conventional shield can be audible as a veil or grain over the music. NDS eliminates this mechanism at the source.

Where can I buy the AudioQuest Angel turntable cable in Toronto or Canada?

The AudioQuest Angel 1.2M turntable cable is available at Vinyl Sound, an authorized AudioQuest dealer in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound carries the full AudioQuest phono cable lineup in-store and online, with complete manufacturer warranty support for Canadian customers.

Can the AudioQuest Angel be used for connections other than a turntable?

Yes, the AudioQuest Angel is an RCA-to-RCA analog interconnect that can be used between any two audio components with RCA outputs and inputs, such as a CD player, DAC, preamplifier, or integrated amplifier. However, it is specifically optimized for turntable use, with the included ground wire and 1.2M length tailored to phono-stage setups. The 72V DBS system, PSS conductors, and Carbon-Based NDS shielding benefit any analog signal application, not only phono.

Seems like a lack of quality assurance.
Flavor Name: Lemon Pepper, Size: 2 Ounce (Pack of 8)
Honestly I purchased this after getting an amazing package at a specialty store in Houston and loved that there was the option of having a multi-pack and subscription on this. I was a bit reluctant bc of pics and reviews seen/read but took my chance and maybe there are just not consistent batches with the company. Not sure - but mine was gross and the one I had the other day was incredible from a store. This was scraps and full of fat and wouldn’t eat it and I can tell you so much fat that there is no way it would be 6g of fat for a bag. Quality control needs to be on. I don’t think I’ll buy this again. Sending it back.

Amazing Beef Biltong with Some Delicious Fat!
If you enjoy beef biltong that is easy to eat and has a little delicious fat on it too, this biltong will make you very happy. It is pretty plain just with salt and does not have the typical coriander flavor. I did not find it overly salty and the slices keep well in the freezer or in a bag they supply with your order. It is a paper bag you are supposed to keep the leftovers in in the refrigerator. You can also freeze extra biltong for later and thaw it out in the refrigerator as I'm doing now. I have tried a lot of biltong in my lifetime and used to eat it in Africa on a regular basis. Now that I'm back in America I keep trying different biltong companies to see who is the best. This is in my top 10 of biltong experiences. You get a lot for your money and it is well worth ordering! ~The Rebecca Review
