Our Mata-Au vineyards are in the Lowburn and Parkburn areas of the Cromwell basin. The vineyards are planted on terraces of schist-based soils formed by ancient glaciers that pushed in to the Cromwell basin. The Mata-Au (Clutha) River(pronounced – martar-o) follows the course of those ancient glaciers on its journey past the vineyards. The unique combination of site, soil and mild continental climate produces perfumed wines withelegant texture, structure and mineral length. It ismade from the best blocks in our best vineyards inthe Lowburn/Parkburn sub-region.
