The fish possess an average large size of around 5–8 inches, which means Discus fish normally require a fairly large aquarium tank to dwell in. It is even more important since they are also shoaling by nature, and are suggested to be kept in groups (from 6 -7 specimens). The distinctive body also challenges the Pigeon Yellow Discus-keepers’ skills in controlling water quality to meet the fish’s requirements. They tend to consume a large amount of food and dispose of comparable waste. Therefore, in addition to setting up a soft and slightly acidic water environment for the species, water changes of 30% per week should be performed regularly.
