Lotus Planting Instructions
Plant in a wide container using heavy loam soil. Dig a shallow trench across the top of the soil and plant your lotus tuber in the trench, being careful not to bruise the growth tips. Add a couple of inches of water above the soil and place where your lotus will receive eight to ten hours of sunlight each day, in the shallow end of your pond or in ornamental pots on your deck or patio. In a week or two you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water. Once you have aerial leaves, you may fertilize your lotus.
Lotus Fertilizing Instructions
Once you have aerial leaves growing out of the water, you may fertilize your lotus plant with three (3) fertilizer tabs, placing them in the soil near the lotus roots about 3 - 4 inches deep. An easy way to remember to fertilize your lotus plants is to mark your calendar on the 1st and 15th of each month. Fertilize your lotus plants from June through September with Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs Plus Humates. Lotus plants are very heavy feeders, always fertilize for vigorous growth and robust bloom!
