Introducing the Better Boxwood Babylon Beauty - the model of garden refinement and resilience. With over two decades of breeding and trials we are prepared to present to you the blight resistant, blight fighter line up! This particular cultivar has lighter green foliage than its hybrid relatives, but the foliage retains its evergreen vibrancy throughout the year!

When fully grown, the Babylon Beauty stands at 3-4' tall and spans 3-5' wide, providing you with many applications. Envision a flawless low-lying hedge or a detailed topiary, maintaining its lushness from winter's cold embrace to the height of summer, all with little upkeep... This is precisely what it offers.

Gardening enthusiasts will appreciate the Babylon Beauty's adaptability. This is a good choice if you need an area covered as they are much more prone to spreading than other varieties. It’s especially useful for low-growing hedges, layering, and patio containers if they are well fed and watered. Its compact growth habit ensures a dense, lush appearance, making it perfect for both formal and casual garden settings as well.

Environmentally conscious gardeners can take solace in the fact that this cultivar is sustainably bred to resist the dreaded boxwood blight and other common pests. This means less reliance on chemical treatments, leading to a healthier garden ecosystem. Invest in the future of your garden with the Better Boxwood Babylon Beauty Boxwood – a symphony of beauty, resilience, and sustainability.

Better Boxwood - The Blight Fighter

This new cultivar of Boxwoods has been bred to be more resistant to boxwood blight which a devastating disease that affects traditional boxwoods. Boxwood blight is caused by the fungus Calonectria pseudonaviculata and can lead to rapid defoliation and death of the plants.

Although bred to be blight-resistant, it's always a good idea to follow best practices for boxwood care to ensure the healthiest plants. This includes proper spacing for airflow, not watering the foliage directly, and regularly inspecting for any signs of disease or pests.

Better Boxwood Babylon Beauty Care

Better Boxwood Sunlight Requirements

The Babylon Beauty, like many boxwood varieties, prefers a location with full sun to partial shade. Ideally, it should receive between 4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily. In areas with intense summer heat, it is beneficial to provide some afternoon shade to protect it from scorching. This balance of sun and shade will help maintain the lush green color of its foliage and promote healthy growth.

When To Prune Better Boxwood Shrubs

The best time for major pruning or shaping is in late winter or early spring, just before the new growth begins. This allows you to remove any winter-damaged branches and shape the shrub for the upcoming season.

For light shaping or minor touch-ups, you can gently prune during the growth phase. However, refrain from extensive pruning in the late summer or autumn, as it can stimulate fresh growth that may not become resilient before the winter chill sets in.

Are Better Boxwoods Cold Hardy?

YES! The Babylon Beauty thrives across a diverse range of USDA hardiness zones, showcasing its adaptability and resilience to varying climate conditions. Particularly favored in zones 5 through 9, this cultivar is adept at handling temperature fluctuations experienced within these regions. USDA Hardiness Zone 5 has a temperate climate with average minimum winter temperatures ranging from -20°F to -10°F.

How Often Do Boxwoods Need to Be Watered?

For optimal growth and health, the Babylon Beauty prefers well-draining soil, ensuring its roots are not left waterlogged and susceptible to rot. When it comes to watering, a consistent yet moderate routine is best, ensuring the soil remains moist but not overly saturated. The ideal soil type for this boxwood is a loamy blend that is rich in organic matter. Contrary to common perception, Boxwoods do NOT care for acidic soil. Plant in soil with a pH between 6.5-7.2.

This is a great blanket for those who prefer to be cool all night.
This is a great blanket for those who prefer to be slightly cooler all night. I have been using this for almost two months now. It's been difficult to figure out how to explain it's use. Ultimately I have figured out that it acts like a blanket, insulating and keeping you warm, however, wherever the blanket is actually resting on your skin stays cool. It took me a while to figure it out. How does an insulating blanket cool you? I'm not sure how the material actually works, but that is what it does, at least for slightly cool interior weather with a bit of humidity. I imagine in the desert it may work differently. I would say nights when a sheet may be too cold or thin, and a blanket way too hot, this is the in between. The material itself is soft and almost silky. It is made well, has a pleasant appearance on the bed, and doesn't wrinkle. So getting up in the morning it is easy to toss and make the bed. It breathes unlike a duvet cover and feather blanket, so no need to air it out so much. I have come to really love it and recommend it for anyone looking for an in between, between a sheet and comforter. I have never woken up sweating or pulling it off at night. My only experience was at first thinking I was cold but learning that I was not, only where my skin was in contact! For the quality and price, it is definitely worth giving it a try!

Attractive Comforter That Will Keep Hot Sleepers Cool
The Bedsmile striped cooling comforter ice blanket for hot sleepers is amazing. It's cool and comfortable thanks to its unique structure. If you're a hot sleeper, then this comforter is definitely the one for you. This comforter gives you the comfort of a blanket, but manages to also keep you cool throughout the night. It's soft and it feels cold to the touch on one side and smooth and comforting on the other. This is because one side is made from nylon which feels cool because it's a synthetic, thermally conductive material that quickly draw heat away from your skin. My daughter is the lucky recipient of this comforter, and she loves it. It matches perfectly with the gray sheets and pillowcases she already has. I have to admit I had my doubts when I first pulled it out of the package and saw it wasn't thick like a traditional comforter, but so far it has exceeded my expectations. The design is very attractive, gray with white stripes on one side, and a solid gray on the other. It is the solid gray side that is made of nylon for that cooling effect. It’s lightweight without feeling flimsy, and it is well-stitched. This is a quality comforter made with top of the line material. It's Queen size and its measurements are true. The ad says it is "reversible" but the solid gray side is nylon and that is where you get the cooling benefits...plus, it looks so much better with the gray and white strips on top. I'm really happy with this bedspread, it looks great, it is made with quality materials, it is soft and silky and it does keep you cool and comfortable at night. If you're looking for a good nights sleep, I highly recommend this comforter.

Quality design, materials, and stitching...with one annoying trait
There is a lot to love about this comforter. First, as advertised, it works. I don't know how, but on a warm day in the house it feels great to cover yourself in it and to feel its "coolness." The design is cool as well, but in a stylistic way. It's elegant and tasteful, and the colors went well with our mocha-colored walls. And the fabric color is neutral enough that it will go with a large range of colors. The fabric has a high thread count, so it looks, feels, and is luxurious. Stitching is perfect. Overall, the design and materials are superior...with one--for me, anyway--annoying characteristic: we couldn't keep the comforter on the bed. The backing material is so very smooth and shiny that the moment it was disturbed even in a slight way, this lovely blanket went instantly to the floor night after night, sliding down on that smoothness and shininess. As a result we keep it kind of rolled/folded up in the middle of the bed during the day (which is a shame because the design is so nice), and we find ourselves frustrated at night when it invariably slides off the bed! All told, this is an elegant, quality made comforter. I almost knocked a star off for its seeming inability to stay on the bed. But it looks so nice, is so well made, and actually works, that it deserves a 5-star rating. Just be ready to grab it quickly when it starts its quick slide to the floor in the middle of the night. A good value. Recommended.

Nice for cooling but not so cool with staying on the bed
Color: Black Pinstripe, Size: King(108"x90")
Definitely cooled while sleeping however due to the silky fabric it did not stay on the bed and often ended up on the floor by morning.

Pretty nice blanket
First off I have to say that this is not exactly a cooling blanket. It is true that when you first get under it, it does feel cool. Shortly thereafter though, wherever the blanket makes contact with you it warms up to your body temperature, so it doesn’t remain cool. Still, I just moved my foot to a different area and hit a cool pocket, so it has its moments. I have to say I really like the weight of this blanket. It’s so hard to find a good blanket, that is not that thick, It is thin, which is exactly what I was looking for since I live in Florida. One side of the blanket is the “cooling“ side which is plain gray, and on the other side is a gray and white striped pattern. I’m not really crazy about the pattern to be honest. I wish this blanket came in more colors or patterns. The blanket fit my queen bed nicely - not too big or too small. For what it is, I’m not really sure I would say it’s good value for the money, but I do like this blanket.
