Region
The demarcated region for Port wine follows the steep, winding river of the Douro. The region for centuries has had a history of viticulture created in harsh conditions, constantly flighting with the natural geography of the land. The region was founded in 1756 by the then Prime Minister, making the Douro region one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world. Beginning 75km east of the coastal city of Oporto at Barqueiros and stretching to the town of Barca d`Alva at the Portuguese - Spanish border. The region is then divided into three regions; Baixo Corgo (lower Corgo), Cima Corgo (Upper Corgo) and Douro Superior. Each sub region is separated by natural frontiers which gives them their own distinctive style and therefore allowing the Douro to produce a multitude of styles of Port wine.

Producer
DFJ Vinhos is one of Portugal`s most innovative and highly awarded wine producers winning best Portuguese producer in both the New York International Competition and Berliner Wine competition in 2018. We control estates in the Lisboa, Douro, Setubal, Alentejo and Tejo wine regions and work with 22 different grape varieties. The company is headed by Portugal’s top winemaker, José Neiva. In the past José worked with some of Portugal`s largest wineries and was one of the world`s most productive winemakers. He has now been leading the way for over 40 years and, at the recent “Portuguese Wine Oscars", he was made "Senhor do Vinho" - the highest accolade for an outstanding career.

Great for aggressive chewers, but small mess
Size: Large (Pack of 1), Size: Large (Pack of 1)
He took it right away! It’s a great size. We’ll see how it holds up ONE MONTH UPDATE: (photo included) He loves it still! Still a bit messy but holding up great and he’s a aggressive chewer 1 WEEK UPDATE (photo update included) The bone is great. He loves it and it’s been holding up great. Our 8 month puppy is a super chewer and 60 lbs. the bone has signs of wear but nothing crazy. I went from 5 stars to 4 stars because whenever he chews the bone, the small tiny pieces of bone/wood go everywhere and they’re sticky/hard and make kind of a mess. But still would get this bone again and highly recommend
