How Should You Clean and Maintain Your Cutting Board?
To prevent food poisoning and ensure safe food preparation, follow these guidelines for cleaning and maintaining your cutting board.
Before using it for food preparation, make sure your cutting board is clean. Clean your cutting board thoroughly with hot, soapy water, then rinse with water and either air dry or pay dry with a clean paper towel. Make sure to clean the cutting board after each use and before moving on to the next step while prepping food. You can wash plastic, glass, nonporous acrylic and polyethylene cutting boards in a dishwasher.
If your cutting board becomes excessively worn or develops hard-to-clean grooves, discard it.
