Kanto ST28 28" Universal Bookshelf Speaker Floor Stand at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The ST28 is a pair of 28-inch universal floor speaker stands from Kanto (Vancouver, Canada), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Engineered for bookshelf and standmount speakers up to 30 lb / 13.6 kg per stand, the ST28 combines heavy-duty steel column construction with a weighted MDF base for exceptional stability and minimal vibration. An integrated cable routing channel through the centre column keeps speaker wire hidden and the listening area clean, while adjustable rubber feet and carpet spikes provide secure placement on any floor surface. Available in 28-inch or 34-inch height options in a black finish, the ST28 is designed to position bookshelf speakers at ear level and away from reflective surfaces for clearer, more precise audio reproduction.

Acoustic Performance Through Correct Placement

The primary acoustic benefit of the ST28 is elevating bookshelf speakers to ear level and pulling them away from shelves, furniture, and walls that introduce boundary reflections and bass buildup. When a speaker sits on a shelf or close to a wall, early reflections from nearby surfaces arrive at the listener's ear milliseconds after the direct sound, smearing transient detail and degrading stereo imaging. The ST28 positions the tweeter at the correct height for a seated listener while creating physical separation from reflective boundaries, allowing the speaker to perform closer to its measured anechoic performance. The weighted MDF base adds inherent mass to the stand system, further reducing sympathetic resonance during playback.

Construction and Stability

The ST28 uses heavy-duty steel tubing for the column, providing the structural rigidity needed to keep a loaded speaker platform level and vibration-free during extended listening sessions. The MDF base contributes additional mass low in the stand structure, lowering the overall center of gravity and improving tip resistance compared to all-steel base designs of equivalent footprint. The base plate measures 10.8 x 8.9 inches, offering a stable foundation without an oversized footprint that would dominate a listening room. Both adjustable rubber feet for hard floors and carpet spikes for soft surfaces are included, with the top plate measuring 7.9 x 5.9 inches to accommodate a broad range of bookshelf speaker cabinets.

Key Features

  • Steel Column Construction: Heavy-duty steel tubing delivers structural rigidity and vibration resistance, keeping the speaker platform stable and level under loads up to 30 lb / 13.6 kg per stand.
  • Weighted MDF Base: A dense MDF base plate lowers the center of gravity and adds inherent mass to the stand system, improving tip resistance and reducing sympathetic resonance during playback.
  • Integrated Cable Management: Speaker cables route cleanly through the centre column, keeping wires hidden from view and eliminating trailing cables across the floor.
  • Ear-Level Speaker Positioning: The 28-inch height places most bookshelf speaker tweeters at seated ear level, reducing wall and furniture reflections for clearer stereo imaging and improved high-frequency accuracy.
  • Adjustable Rubber Feet and Carpet Spikes: Both floor contact options are included, making the ST28 compatible with hardwood, laminate, tile, and carpeted surfaces without additional accessories.
  • Universal Top Plate: The 7.9 x 5.9 inch top plate accommodates a wide range of bookshelf and standmount speaker footprints from compact to midsize cabinets.
  • Timeless Minimal Design: A clean black finish and slender profile integrate naturally into any home theater, two-channel stereo, or living room setup.
  • Two Height Options Available: The ST28 and ST34 share the same platform and feature set, allowing the correct height to be selected for any listening position or room geometry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Kanto ST28 speaker stands?

The Kanto ST28 are a pair of 28-inch universal floor speaker stands built with steel columns and a weighted MDF base, designed for bookshelf and standmount speakers up to 30 lb / 13.6 kg per stand. Made by Kanto, a Canadian audio accessories brand based in Vancouver, the ST28 positions speakers at seated ear level, integrates cable management through the column, and includes both rubber feet and carpet spikes for universal floor compatibility. A 34-inch version, the ST34, is also available for listeners who need a taller stand height.

How does the Kanto ST28 compare to the Kanto SX22 or the Sanus SF28?

The Kanto ST28 and SX22 serve related but distinct needs within the Kanto lineup. The SX22 adds a fillable column for mass loading and a bespoke isolation foot system, making it the stronger acoustic performer for listeners who want maximum resonance reduction. The ST28 offers a cleaner, more traditional stand design with a weighted MDF base and integrated cable management, at a more accessible level of the range, and is the better fit for listeners who prioritize simplicity and a minimal aesthetic. Compared to the Sanus SF28, a widely available fixed-height competitor, the Kanto ST28 offers comparable stability with the addition of integrated cable routing and the choice of a companion 34-inch model for flexibility across room types.

Can the Kanto ST28 be used on hardwood floors without causing scratches?

Yes, the Kanto ST28 is fully safe for use on hardwood, laminate, and tile floors. The included adjustable rubber feet provide a non-marking contact surface that protects floor finishes during normal use and when repositioning the stands. For rooms with carpet, the included carpet spikes can be fitted in place of the rubber feet to anchor the base more firmly into soft floor surfaces and improve stability.

What is the difference between the Kanto ST28 and the Kanto ST34?

The Kanto ST28 and ST34 are identical in construction, materials, load capacity, and feature set, differing only in column height at 28 inches and 34 inches respectively. The ST28 is suited to listeners seated in standard sofas or low chairs where a 28-inch tweeter height aligns closely with seated ear level. The ST34 is the better choice for taller seating positions or for rooms where a higher speaker placement is acoustically preferred. Both models are available in black and share the same top plate, base plate, cable management channel, and included accessories.

What speakers are compatible with the Kanto ST28?

The Kanto ST28 is compatible with a broad range of bookshelf and standmount speakers whose base footprint fits within the 7.9 x 5.9 inch top plate and whose weight does not exceed 30 lb / 13.6 kg per stand. Compatible speaker brands include KEF, ELAC, Wharfedale, Q Acoustics, Klipsch, Polk Audio, Monitor Audio, and Kanto's own YU and YU6 powered bookshelf speaker series. For speakers with a larger or unusual base footprint, measuring the cabinet base against the top plate dimensions before purchasing is recommended.

Does the Kanto ST28 have cable management?

Yes, the Kanto ST28 features an integrated cable routing channel running through the centre of the steel column. Speaker cables are fed in at the base and exit near the top plate, keeping wires fully hidden from view along the length of the stand. This design eliminates trailing cables across the floor and contributes to a clean, organized listening room setup without requiring separate cable management accessories.

Where can I buy the Kanto ST28 speaker stands in Toronto or Canada?

The Kanto ST28 floor speaker stands are available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound is an authorized Kanto dealer serving customers throughout the Greater Toronto Area and shipping across Canada. Purchasing from an authorized Canadian dealer ensures full manufacturer warranty coverage and access to knowledgeable local support for speaker pairing recommendations and setup advice.

Pack's Promise was okay but not great
Format: Kindle
Pack's Promise was okay but not great. I won't recommend it to anyone that I know. PRO: * Very likable characters * Lots of steamy scenes that are written very well * The spelling and grammar are good * The punctuation is good with the exception of using hyphens instead of commas. Lots of hyphens. Lots and lots of hyphens. CON: * Almost no interactions with any characters outside of Madison and the pack * Nearly no plot. They meet, get together for a heat, agree to make it permanent, done * Quite a few typos such as extraneous words, missing words and words out of order THINGS TO KNOW: * More steamy scenes than storytelling * A lot of MM & MMM, some MFMM during heat

Fluffy and Nice Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
… this would have made 5 stars but for 2 reasons. A.) there were quite a few typos; misspelled words, missing quotations, “the his” mistakes, and various signs that maybe a proofread would do good. B.) the writing was quite textbook. Late blooming omega is struggling with her new self, finds a absurdly wealthy pack of alphas, every thing is almost insta-love but she resists, then decides to love herself and let everyone be happy. Rian was my favourite (obviously the author’s favourite too because he got the most page time) but I wish we could see more of his CEO side? He went to work maybe ONCE the entire time. Gray was supposed to be the “growly one” but he turned out to be puppy dog. Lucas was a genius brainiac doctor - but also super alpha with an aggressive hindbrain with a breeding k*nk?? And then there was no actual “breeding”?? Spice 3/5 - normally omegaverse books are super high on messy smut but this was tamer. Romance 3/5 - insta-love that was then resisted because of personal hangup’s Plot 2/5 - weird paced head hopping, showing the same scene from different POV’s that made me feel like it was 2 steps backward, 1 step forward. Humour 4/5 - there were a dozen lines that genuinely made me chuckle out loud Would have been five stars but the lack of proofreading and the predictable plot made me unable to get up to ADORED IT level - four stars is still and official ENJOYED IT, y’all. This isn’t a bad rating. The “Club Heat” has intriguing possibilities so I’m going to give the second one a shot.

Wow.
Format: Kindle
Okay I’m usually not one for stand-alone’s I’m an avid series reader but my goodness am I so happy I read this! This story was brilliant & so absolutely mesmerizing. I loved reading about each character and their struggles as well as what helped them to move forward. The ending definitely brought tears to my eyes so hard. I truly wasn’t expecting some of what happened in this story. There is about to be a spoiler I am going to reveal so please stop reading if you don’t want the spoiler !!!! ⚠️ ⛔️ ‼️ I loved that the author didn’t do what most authors do with irredeemable male characters. I truly was hoping that Nate Jr. would be apart of the pack after the way he treated Astrea bc he truly didn’t deserve it. Though I must say you did a wonderful job or redeeming him as a person. I cried my eyes out when he walked into the story. I was truly terrified he was going to be a bad guy to the end. However you truly did him such a justice by having him realize his faults & having him redeem himself in the most wonderful way. I’m so sad that he didn’t get to hear how much his brother loved him & forgave him before dying. But again you wrote that ending so beautifully & I just can’t express how much I loved this story & how you took a different route than most authors I have read have. You are a remarkable author Cinder Blaze & I thank you generously for creating such a masterpiece.

Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
I was pleasantly surprised by this omega verse book. This 1 definitely had a few new twists And I really enjoyed reading it. The main female character was a badass and awesome. She had 1 best friend I wish we could have seen a little bit more of their friendship in this book. Her relationship with the male characters was good not to contrived or super instantaneous. And we had some fun plot twists that I didn't expect. I wish we had more of a follow up on the situation with her family her background and her mother who was a wench. I would definitely recommend this book.
