- Jet is a type of lignite, a precursor to coal, and is a gemstone. Jet is not a mineral, but rather a mineraloid. It has an organic origin, being derived from decaying wood under extreme pressure.
- Sometime Jet is referred to as “Black Amber,” although it actually has no relation to Amber, but similarly produces a pleasant electrostatic charge when rubbed. Historically, and even in modern stone lore, Jet is a powerful protective stone, that wards off all types of evil and absorbs negative energy, keeping the wearer safe.
- Jet is found in two forms, hard and soft. Hard jet is the result of carbon compression and salt water; soft jet is the result of carbon compression and fresh water.
- The jet found at Whitby, in England, is of early Jurassic age, approximately 182 million years old. Whitby Jet is the fossilized wood from species similar to the extant Chile Pine or Monkey Puzzle Tree.
- Jet is also found in Poland and Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain, and near Erzurum in Turkey, where it is used to make Prayer Beads and Talismen that are treasured throughout the Middle Eastern World.

Nice pipe shelves! Excellent quality!

I really like the fact that the pieces were already painted. I compared the cost of the unit to buying the pieces from the big box store and this was far more cost effective for me.
The installation went well and I ended up creating a template for installation. For the template, I measured the width of one of the flanges (part that mounts to the wall), cut a piece of material the same width. I found the center and drew a line down the middle. I then placed the section with top and bottom holes over the center line and then marked the other two holes.
I then drilled out the holes, put on wall and used level to plumb. I used small pilot drill bit to drill through the template into the wall.
One thing to note is that I did not use the included anchors instead opting for some from the big box store.

Well built and priced

I saw these on line and decided I could probably just build one on my own. After pricing the parts out at the local hardware store, it was almost the same price, and opted for the less hassle pre-fab online kit. The material is well made, same as the hardware store, except the threads are shorter for easier assembly, and its painted for a cleaner look. I bought the 12"Dx42"L kit, and although I knew the measurements, it was a lot more massive than it looked in the picture. An 8' or 10"x 24"L kit would have fit my needs better. I only assembled 2 of the 3 sections, and will use the single section leftover for another shelf elsewhere, so it wasn't a problem. I'm happy with the end result and would recommend.

So beautiful!

The poles are very sturdy. The order doesn’t come with wood but I only spent ~$15-20 on the wood and stain needed to shelve the poles. The only complaint I have is it was hard to install; mostly due to my lack of experience. It took most of the day to install and stain and cute the shelves. The poles weren’t completely flush to the wall and I couldn’t figure it out for the life of me. I love the way these turned out and I know these shelves will be coming with me to the next home I have. 10/10 would recommend, even with the hard installation. SO worth it.

Strong legs, somewhat industrial but trendy also
Size: side table leg
Good legs, some what utilitarian or industrial, they are strong as they are made out of pipe, and assembly is fairly easy once you get the idea of how it goes together. They are roughly 1.5 feet across maybe a bit less adjustable height on each leg, if you have wood floors you may want to put a pad under each leg as they are full metal pipes. Pretty interesting idea and does not cost much.

Materials are pretty solid, but once assembled it’s not as sturdy as you would think it should be since the material itself was solid, i say give them a chance, everything out there that’s similar is way over priced
