Head Edge Lyt 130 is one of the most impressive boots of 2023.  It combines the now legendary, larger volume Edge fit, with Head's recent Hi Top Tech shell design, and now their newest Lyt Tech shell construction, as well as Liquid Fit customization capability.

Head's Lyt Tech shell construction is all about making ski boots lighter, with no sacrifice in performance.  Proprietary Graphene infused shell material, combined with  Smart Frame shell engineering reduces the weight of the ski boot significantly.    Lighter boots equals better skiing, with less effort and fatigue.

Hi Top Tech with Duoflex shell design also makes skiing easier.  These two concepts combined in one boot create a more direct path for the energy to flow through the boot to the ski, while at the same time ensuring that the boot is stiffer exactly where it needs to be, and softer where it needs to provide maximum comfort.  Pictures attached show that Hi Top Tech with Duoflex is definitely different than any other boot design on the market.

This all new, 102mm shell design fits larger volume feet incredibly well.  But, unlike many other roomier 130 flex boots on market, this one is a true performance machine.  Super firm liner provides just the right amount of cushion for all day comfort, but with plenty of firmness for the most aggressive skiers.  Both shell and liner can be heat molded if necessary, but this boot fits really, really well right out of the box.

  • 3D Perfect Fit LF liner is premolded to fit the inside of the shell, and the shape of the foot.  Less break in time, better initial fit.  This is Head's best fitting, best skiing liner. Liquid Fit material can be added or removed to the liner for an ultimate custom fit.
  • Four light weight, low profile micro adjustable buckles, with Double Power Levers on the top two for easier closure.
  • Wide, 40mm power strap
  • Easy entry shell design thanks to Duo Flex.  Softer and stiffer material are molded together, making each part of the boot exactly the stiffness it needs to be for maximum comfort and maximum performance
  • 2 position Softer/Stiffer flex adjustment allows the skier to select the best feel on the snow.
  • Cant adjustment hinge point to adjust angle of boot sole to be flat on the snow
  • Grip Walk soles included (REQUIRES A GRIP WALK COMPATIBLE BINDING)

We think the new Edge Lyt design is game changing.  Super light on your feet, super easy to use, super comfortable all day long.  This latest generation of Edge shells are very anatomically shaped and just fit very, very well right out of the box.  Edge Lut with Hi Top Tech gives good skiers with wider feet, or who simply want a roomier boot, a great skiing, high performance boot with room everywhere you need it.

 

How does the Edge Lyt 130 fit?  Very comfortable and supportive fit for the slightly wider foot right out of the box, and with a good amount of toe room.  A little roomier inside than most other boots at this performance level.  For skiers with higher volume feet, this boot will be the perfect choice right out of the box.  The shell and liner can both be heat molded if needed, but this is seldom necessary.

Essential kit for those with fetch dogs

Now in our 3rd year, my Brittany and I are down to about 40 fetch tosses a day, some 14,600 tosses a year. The Chuck It launcher wears well, so, figure at least 5 years of use, for 73,000 tosses. That makes for a terrific value! There are several key benefits of the Chuck It launchers: One is that you can chuck the ball further than you can throw, which allows you to exercise your dog more easily. The second is that you can pick up and launch the ball without touching it, which means NO slime! And, the Chuck It also gives extra reach when you have to retrieve a ball from sticker brambles. Those are great features for anyone with a fetch dog. If you also happen to have a weak arm or shoulder, the Chuck It launchers provide nice throwing options. I generally throw underhanded. I can't get the full potential range, that way, but, I still get good, long tosses. I curl my second finger above the last bump on the handle, and use a good wrist flick along with arm swing. I've seen others throw side-arm with the Chuck It. I had originally written a second review for the longer 25M Chuck It. Either I, or Amazon messed up, and it looks like I can have only this one review. So, here are my additional thoughts on the 25M: I bought the 25M so that I could throw the ball even further! The good news is, you really can chuck further, with the longer chucker. The bad news is, those longer throws do require more arm and shoulder strength than when using the 18M. This becomes more obvious when you've done 3 or 4 dozen throws. I would recommend the 25M only for those with the youth and/or strength to get the most out of it. Otherwise, I'd say, go with the 18M.

My Niece dog loves it!

This ball launcher takes a bit of getting. used to, but it is really helpful for those of us who are not MLB pitchers! The launcher itself is a sturdy plastic that is not brittle yet not soft; when the ball is launched there is no destructive bending in the shaft. The handle is padded and ergonomically sound while the cup end cradles the ball but has cut-outs on each side for easy loading and unloading of the ball. It did take a bit of practice for me to get the hang of it, but for my husband and son it was much easier. The launcher works well to help us older, non-gifted athletes launch the ball farther and faster while saving the shoulder, elbow, and wrist (important if there is any arthritis). The ball fits nicely into the cup and releases easily. The 2.5 size was too small for my Doberman, so we opted for the 3.5 in launcher. This smaller launcher and ball are now in the employ of my sister and her husband for their retriever-border collie mix, an 18 month old little fireball!. This is just the right size for her. My sister's husband has difficulty with arthritis and is neither quick on his feet nor able to stand very long. So the launcher comes in very handy. He can actually sit in a lawn chair and throw the ball repeatedly when their dog retrieves and returns it to him. That is a win- win!
