Description:

CALI76 BASS COMPRESSOR

Studio-Grade Compression Optimised For Bass

The Cali76 Bass Compressor is a studio-grade compressor pedal inspired by the world-famous Urei® 1176® studio compressor, heard on many of the greatest studio recordings since the 1960s. The Cali76 Bass Compressor uses uncompromising all-analogue circuitry to make these distinctive, ultra-fast FET compression tones available to the modern guitarist.

The latest in a long lineage of Cali76 compressors, the Cali76 Bass Compressor features a full set of studio-style controls, a DRY knob for parallel compression and an improved sidechain that matches the response of our sought-after “large format” Cali76 – the pedal that put Origin Effects on the map back in 2012.

With a 10-LED gain reduction meter, a pedalboard friendly enclosure and massive headroom thanks to internally increased voltage, the Cali76 Bass Compressor marks the culmination of over a decade of experience making the world’s finest compressor pedals.

FEATURES LIST:

  • All-analogue signal path
  • Ultra-fast FET compression
  • 1176®-inspired circuitry
  • Dedicated Attack, Release and Ratio controls
  • Dry Blend control for parallel compression
  • 10-LED bar graph gain reduction meter
  • Voltage increased internally to 24V for high headroom
  • Optimised for bass, compatible with line-level signals
  • Improved dynamic response matches large format Cali76
  • High-quality buffered bypass
  • Premium components throughout
  • Designed and built in England

THE DETAILS:

Nothing comes close to the ultra-fast response of a great, all-analogue FET Compressor. With the perfect balance of character and clarity, and a full set of studio-style controls, this pedal serves up the studio-grade compression that Origin Effects built its reputation on. In fact, the Cali76 Bass Compressor’s sidechain has been tweaked to match the rare and desirable “large format” Cali76 from 2012, giving it even more punch and clarity.

It wouldn’t be a modern compressor pedal without a DRY control, allowing you to achieve parallel compression without the need for any extra gear. Parallel compression is a popular studio technique that mixes heavy compression with the natural dynamics of your dry signal. The DRY control on the Cali76 Bass Compressor lets you do this on your pedal board, getting you the perfect blend of presence, sustain and articulation.

Great compression needs great headroom and this pedal has plenty. Voltages are increased internally to 24V from a standard 9VDC supply. The Cali76 Bass Compressor can stay crystal-clear anywhere in your signal chain and can deal with line-level signals from keyboards and studio outboard gear. Need your compressor to share pedalboard and home studio duties? No problem!

Trust your ears, but trust your meters too! The 10-LED gain reduction meter gives you an accurate visual indication of how much the pedal is compressing and how fast. Housed in a compact, brushed stainless enclosure and built in the UK from premium components, the Cali76 Bass Compressor puts the tone, versatility and sophistication of studio compression right at your feet.

Please note: the Cali76 Bass Compressor is powered by a mains adaptor only (not included). We’ve dispensed with the usual 9V battery option, both to save space and to allow us to adopt a high-current approach, yielding lower noise levels and superior tone.

Origin Effects pedals are designed to deliver impeccable performance using a range of power supplies. We recommend you only use a regulated power supply specifically designed for guitar pedal applications as power supplies which do not have sufficient internal filtering can result in unwanted noise.

We recommend the following power supplies for use with our pedals:

    • Voodoo Labs Pedal Power series
    • Cioks supplies
    • Truetone 1 Spot Pro series
    • Strymon Zuma
    • Dunlop ECB-004

      A Textbook for My Students
      Format: Kindle
I'm an adjunct instructor for several institutions where I teach adults how to design and develop software using various IDEs and languages. As a former military officer, I've come to appreciate the idea of ensuring my troops have all the training and gear they'll need to get the job done. Patrick exemplifies that spirit in his series, "From Zero to Proficiency." After reading his first two books in the series, I've decided that I'll use them in the Fall term to teach my students game development with Unity. The lessons are easy to follow, yet provide powerful impact upon game development. I've never come across any other author who continues to provide weekly support to his readers and Patrick Felicia does. He even solicits us to learn what we'd like for him to teach next. If you want to learn Unity from someone who actually knows how to teach it, I recommend his books. I read a lot of technical books, so I seriously appreciate it when an author can clearly convey knowledge in an easy-going manner that is technically correct. I'm very happy with these books and am sure my students will be too.

      Step by Step
      Format: Kindle
This series of books has step by step instructions that are easy to follow. There are lots of pictures to verify you are doing things correctly. I have done three books in this series so far (Foundations, Beginner, and Platform). Before starting the books, I had some coding background, but no experience with Unity. Each book covers a manageable amount of information. There is so much to learn, but the author does well to stick to key points to not make the reader feel overwhelmed.

      Seriously needs a proofreader
      Format: Paperback
The content in this series is good, but the presentation is in need of a proofreader. There are so many typos and wrong words (ignoring that it's UK English). It's like the author typed what he heard in his head, but the words are something different. For example, a section introduces the "Package Manager," which is then inconsistently called the "Packet Manager." Or "research term" instead of "search term." Or "PlayGround" in the text when it's clearly "playground" in the figure. Even the provided resources are misspelled: "Sdandard Assets" in the code and the screenshots in the book. How does this go unnoticed? Programming isn't tolerant of these things.

      Great Beginner's book.
      Format: Kindle
I really like Pat's approach to learn Unity. I'm working my way through his books, just finish this one (second in the series). I've tried to learn Unity in the past and fail and now I know why. Pat's walks you from the beginning, you learn how to build games from a blank canvas and putting all pieces together. It's a step by step approach so you are never wondering how to get to a certain stage. If you are new to Unity and Programming strongly suggest you starting with book 1 "foundation" and then move to this one.
