Give your kitchen bench a living centrepiece. The LaNiTex Smart Microgreen Growing Kit (Wooden) is a self-watering microgreen growing kit that turns seed into a tray of fresh, nutrient-packed microgreens — broccoli, radish, sunflower, pea and more — in roughly 7 to 14 days, while the timed full-spectrum LED quietly does the work. It works just as well as a micro herbs growing kit: the same kit raises the herb microgreens known as micro herbs, like basil and coriander, for fresh kitchen garnish.

Because microgreens are cut so young, they pack plenty in — a study of 25 varieties found them generally higher in vitamins and carotenoids than the fully grown plants (USDA / University of Maryland research, Xiao et al. 2012).

In a nutshell: the LaNiTex Smart Microgreen Kit is a reusable, self-watering countertop microgreen growing kit that raises a tray of fresh microgreens in 7–14 days on a soil-free fibre mat under an automatic full-spectrum LED. It's the growing hardware — you bring your own seeds. $189 in the wood-grain finish, with a 1-year warranty — then about $1.49 per tray in grow mats after that. Because micro herbs are just herb microgreens, it doubles as a micro herbs kit too.

Why you'll love this countertop microgreen growing kit

  • A tray of microgreens in 7–14 days. The controlled light and moisture get seeds sprouting fast and growing evenly, so harvest comes around in a week or two.
  • Rinse the roots in seconds. Lift out the inner basket and the whole root mass washes clean in one motion — no soil, no scrubbing.
  • Waters itself. The reservoir keeps the mat evenly damp and takes the over- and under-watering guesswork away, so the kit happily runs for days unattended.
  • Light on a timer. The full-spectrum LED follows an automatic day/night cycle that stands in for sunshine — no bright windowsill needed, nothing to switch.
  • A stronger start under the dome. The blackout germination cover holds in the dark, humid conditions that lift early sprouting rates.
  • Looks like furniture. Food-safe, hard-wearing materials wrapped in a warm wood-grain finish that suits a natural, considered interior.

What's in the box

  • Wood-grain base with built-in self-watering reservoir
  • Lift-out inner growing basket (the 2-second root-rinse)
  • Automatic full-spectrum LED grow light with timer
  • Blackout germination dome
  • Biodegradable transplant bags
  • 2 starter grow mats

Two starter grow mats come in the box so you can sow on day one — all you add is seed. The germinating growing mat is the soil-free surface the seeds sit on; top up with the 10-pack once the starters are spent.

How to grow microgreens in 7–14 days

  1. Sow — scatter seed evenly over a damp mat in the basket, then fill the reservoir.
  2. Cover — sit the blackout dome on top and leave it dark for 3–5 days while the seeds wake up.
  3. Light — take the dome off and switch on the LED; it keeps its own daily rhythm from there.
  4. Top up — refresh the reservoir every few days and the mat wicks moisture up to the roots.
  5. Harvest — snip just above the mat at 7–10 days (radish, broccoli) or 10–14 days (sunflower, pea), for roughly 80–120 g a tray.

We test-grew trays before listing, so the 7–14-day window and ~80–120 g yield above reflect our own runs, not estimates.

Black vs Wooden — which kit is right for you?

Black Metal — $129 Wooden — $189
Best for Modern, minimalist kitchens — best value Warm, natural interiors — a statement piece
Finish Durable matte black metal Premium wood-grain
Growing performance Identical — same LED, reservoir and dome Identical — same LED, reservoir and dome
Harvest speed 7–14 days 7–14 days
Warranty 1 year 1 year

Why the Wooden edition costs more: the extra goes into the premium wood-grain finish — the growing engine is exactly the same as the Black Metal kit, with the same automated LED, self-watering reservoir and 7–14-day harvest. Pick the Wooden kit if you want a natural-material piece that sits well in a warm, timber-toned room.

Where to get microgreen seeds in Australia

The kit is the hardware — seed is bought separately. Any untreated microgreen or sprouting seed from an Australian supplier will do. Unsure where to start? The free Australian guides below pair each crop with its seeding rate and harvest window.

This hubs got what I need and drives seem to mount right away.
Style: 5-in-1 USB-C Hub
Might be a little early to write this review. But, I feel like I keep buying these types of hubs and they never seem to have the right configuration for what I need. Two USB-Cs, Two USBs and an HDMI. Appreciate that the ports are all on the same side so I don't have a spider web of cables going in every direction. They all fit rather snugly. MOST IMPORTANTLY, every external drive and flash drive seems to mount right away. I have had major frustrations over the years with external drives not mounting or taking forever to mount. I'm sure most of this is due to the failing drives themselves, but I have a sneaking suspicion the hubs are playing a role too, but I don't have the electrical engineering degree to prove it. Anyway, so far so good with this one.

Work as expected
Style: 4-in-1 USB-C Hub
Work as expected. Plug and play. For a USB-C hub, worth the price. Had no compatibility issues with my PC and a laptop. Haven't noticed any heat issues.

Fast, Reliable Performance
I bought the UGREEN USB C to Ethernet Adapter 2.5G, and it’s been a solid addition to my setup. The connection is stable and the speeds are impressive, data transfers feel quick and consistent without the drops you sometimes get on WiFi. It’s plug and play, which I appreciate, no hassle getting it up and running. The build quality also feels durable, which is something I’ve come to expect from UGREEN. Overall, it delivers exactly what it’s supposed to, fast, reliable wired connectivity. UGREEN continues to put out quality products, and I look forward to trying more from them.

Solid, Well‑Built Adapter with Excellent Performance
I bought this adapter for my M1 MacBook Air so I could properly test the speeds on my new 2Gb internet service. During installation, my old cheap USB‑C Ethernet adapter kept capping out at 1Gb, and even the tech suggested the adapter was the bottleneck. After he left, I ordered this UGREEN model. I’ve had great luck with their products before and it did not disappoint. It has a solid, heavier feel with what seems like a metal casing, and it worked instantly. macOS recognized it right away with no drivers needed. I simply turned off Wi‑Fi, plugged it in, connected the Ethernet cable, and I was online immediately. My very first speed test hit right at 2Gb, and it’s been consistently fast and stable ever since. I also haven’t noticed any heat issues at all. Overall, a fantastic upgrade and absolutely worth it if you need true multi‑gig speeds on a Mac.
