Donald Duck reads the fine print on a tag worn by the mischievous ostrich, Hortense, in this animation drawing attributed to Disney Legend inductee Manuel Gonzales (1913-1993). Crafted over 85 years ago for Donald's Ostrich. This hilarious Jack King-directed short, followed Donald as he tries to care for Hortense the ostrich, all while brushing off her affection and trying to stop her from eating everything in sight. This was the ostrich's first and only appearance in a Disney short, though she would later find herself in the Donald Duck comic strip (debuting in 1938 and making her last appearance in 1944) where she would become Donald's pet. The drawing can be found starting near the 2:12 timestamp as Donald, in his train station custodian hat, leans in to read a tag attached to Hortense's neck.

The paper used by Disney studios in the 1920s-1930s contains a distinctive watermark, visible in one of the photos, which further attests to its authenticity.
Condition : The drawing show age-related toning with darker toning around the edges, handling wear, edge wear including creases and tears. (See photos)
