Replacement Wheels

We spent a year working with AWAH to make the wheel easily replaceable "at the tailgate". The wheel on the Z3 is the part that takes the most punishment during use. We really wanted to provide users with a way to change it themselves without the downtime of sending it back to get serviced. Our in house engineering team at HowNOT2 designed the 11mm wheel!  Now both 10mm and 11mm wheels are available. 

11mm vs. 10mm Wheels

The 11mm wheel is what comes installed on all certified Awah Z3-Fires. This wheel works well for most 11mm EN 1891 Type A ropes. A 10mm wheel, which works well for most 10mm EN 1891 Type A ropes is available for non-PPE use cases, or to be used as an accessory in a PPE rope access system. 

Replacing your wheel

1. Wrap a section of rope around the wheel.
2. Grasp the rope and use the included 4mm allen wrench or an impact driver with a 4mm hex bit to remove the screw in the center of the wheel. 
3. Remove the wheel and place the new wheel on the shaft. 
4. Apply Loctite 243 or an equivalent threadlocker to the screw and tighten to 8Nm.

Z3-Fire Warranty

The Z3-Fire is a consumable product. The manufacturer provides a one year limited warranty for defects in the materials and production process of the product. 

The warranty does not cover damage to the product caused by wear, deformation, corrosion, oxidation, self-modification or repair, incorrect operation, improper storage and transportation, and other usage than for which it was designed. 

Please note: Wheels and rope edge rollers are wear parts and are not covered under warranty.
