Load Cells

These DaySensor load cells have great specs for the best price we're aware of online.  The load cell we use in our break test machine was $1500 + $400 for the eyes.  These units go up to either 50kN or 100kN with an external reader that would do most of the testing we do here at HowNOT2, displaying peak force values as well as a graph showing force over time.  The LineScale 3i is a great load cell if you want to measure activities as it is an all-in-one without any cables and records internally.  HOWEVER, if you don't need that, you can save half the money on something that is stronger and faster.  The 50kN units are small in size, roughly the same as a LS3 and fit our 5 TON SHACKLES perfectly.  If you need something even stronger look to the 100kN option which comes with rod end bearings that fit our 12.5 TON SHACKLES.

Load cell reader does not support data export. 

Videos show an older style 50kN load cell, new models are as shown in the photos and are slightly smaller with upgraded rod end bearings (eyes).

These cases are 3D printed out of a flexible TPU material with an internal shock absorbing structure, making them the best protection available for your load cells! The case is made up of two separate halves and is held in place by the eyes. The split design ensures that it won't interfere with your readings and an integrated strain relief helps protect the cable as well! 

Notes: Cases are 3D printed and may contain cosmetic defects that will not affect overall function. Cases are not designed to protect against large impacts, load cells are precision instruments and should be treated as such. 

Chain Shackle

D-shaped chain safety shackles that we use in our break test machine.  This shape and this specific shackle can be pulled above it's WLL before permanent deformation occurs.  Bow shackles, if pulled close to their MBS, will deform and pulling the pin loose becomes difficult or impossible.  Chain shackles are our favorite when we plan on using and abusing break test equipment.
