 《玛德琳》一共是四十四幅图，其中八幅是彩色的，余下的三十六幅则是黄底黑白画面。彩色的除了一张病房的花之外，都是巴黎的街景以及戏剧性的场面，用电影语言来说就是远景，如第9页，孩子们穿过旺多姆广场时，遇到一个捂着帽子紧追珠宝盗贼的警察。第24页救护车驶过有埃菲尔铁塔耸立的街道。而黄色背景的黑白画面，多半是房子里面发生的事，如孩子们刷牙、睡觉。

顺便说一句，《玛德琳》还有一个诱人之处，就是画出了巴黎的风景。中文版和日文版后面都有一个附录，一一标出哪一页画出了那些巴黎有名的场景，像巴黎圣母院、卢浮宫、卢森堡公园等等。
