Six Questions Your McAlister's Deli Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We built this franchise unit financial model using our own research into the quick-casual sandwich sector. Key assumptions, including the $1.8M+ year-one revenue and the $18,000 monthly rent for prime locations, are pre-populated and fully editable to fit your specific site. This model helps you navigate the $1.83 million initial investment with confidence and precision.

When does this unit reach profitability?

The unit hits positive EBITDA of $633,000 in its first year, but true net profitability depends on clearing your initial $1.83 million investment. You can expect the unit to be cash-flow positive almost immediately after the three-month ramp-up period. Profitability starts when your systems outpace your overhead.

Improve Unit Margins

  • Optimize food waste
  • Upsell beverage pairings
  • Control overtime hours
[dynamic_pic9]

What is the total capital requirement?

You will need approximately $1,835,500 to launch this unit, covering everything from the $35,500 franchise fee to the $800,000 leasehold build-out. This includes specialized costs like the $150,000 express pickup window and $100,000 for curbside stations. Capital is the fuel; make sure you don't have a leak.

Major Capital Uses

  • Leasehold Improvements: $800,000
  • Kitchen Equipment: $400,000
  • Furniture and Fixtures: $200,000
[dynamic_pic10]

What is the return on investment?

Investors should look at the 2.35% IRR and the 5-year payback period as the primary benchmarks for this high-volume sandwich shop. While the initial cash outlay is significant, the year-5 EBITDA of $1,102,000 demonstrates strong long-term cash generation. Returns take time, so patience is a line item.

Investment Metrics

  • IRR: 2.35%
  • Payback: 5 Years
  • Year 5 EBITDA: $1,102k
[dynamic_pic11]

What is the monthly break-even?

The unit is projected to reach its break-even point in March 2026, just three months after the initial launch. Your ability to hit this depends heavily on sandwich volume and managing the $18,000 monthly rent. Speed to break-even is the best metric for survival.

Reach Break-Even Faster

  • Drive catering sales
  • Minimize pre-opening waste
  • Aggressive local marketing
[dynamic_pic12]

What is the lowest cash point?

The lowest cash balance occurs in March 2026, reaching a deficit of $581,000 during the final stages of the build-out and initial opening. You defintely need to ensure your financing covers this gap plus a 10% buffer for unexpected construction delays. Cash is oxygen; don't hold your breath too long.

Protect Your Cash

  • Phase equipment delivery
  • Negotiate rent abatement
  • Manage opening inventory
[dynamic_pic13]

How do different scenarios impact outcomes?

Analyzing profitability of high-volume sandwich shop scenarios shows that a 10% drop in sandwich sales can delay your payback period by over 12 months. Conversely, hitting the high-growth scenario with strong corporate catering can push year-5 revenue well beyond the $3 million mark. Plan for the worst, but build for the best.

Hit the High Case

  • Focus on catering
  • Boost tea attachment
  • Maximize drive-thru speed

Our first babies favorite and longest lasting ball yet and he is fixing to be 7.

Toughest ball we have found yet. Our doberman loves Chuckit! Balls especially the crunch one. He spreads all the balls and toys we have bought but these lasted the longest. The crunch and the glow in the dark are usually his pick but he has several different choices.

Gus the goose Buster's new bff
My pitbull terrier loves his goose and has not tore this up but he had not tried either. He's funny with soft toys but loves A good tug of war or actual chew toy.

Fun Goose Dog Toy
I have a small dog with about 20 plush toys to play with. Added to her inventory now is the ILC Buy Interactive Goose Toy for Small Breeds. It took me a while to figure out where the toy "squeaks", and it makes the noise when the white banded neck around the goose is squeezed. My dog took an immediate liking to the toy and loves to carry it around the house, shaking her head back and forth with the goose in her mouth. It appears to be made primarily of burlap (see pictures) and is about 12-13" in length. Fortunately, my dog doesn't destroy toys, as some (probably larger) dogs do, so it appears to be pretty sturdy and well-made. After a week of playing with it regularly, the toy still looks brand new. I like the coloring and the size of the goose, and this is a nice addition to my dog's playtime routine. It is also priced appropriately for a dog toy of its size and quality. Recommended. Made in China.

Durable toy with a single squeaker
This goose seems to be made of fairly durable fabric. It's not flimsy. I had a hard time finding the squeaker in it at first, but then I realized the squeaker is located in the white neck! My medium border collie grabbed it first. Then my pitbull figured out where the squeaker was and ran around squeaking it for a while, which is her favorite thing to do. So this toy did get some interest from the pitbull especially. She isn't one to chew things up but really enjoys toys that make noise. Since the squeaker is in the skinny neck portion, it made it easy for her to grab hold of it and squeak it over and over again. I am giving this 4 stars only because in the whole long body of this toy, the neck has the only squeaker. I think it would have been better and more stimulating for my dogs if it had multiple squeakers or even some crinkles in the rest of the body...at least some crinkles in the flat feet of the duck. The sole attraction is that one squeaker in the neck. So it could be better, but I do like that it isn't super plush and full of stuffing that would be torn up in 5 minutes like most toys. My pitbull actually took this to another room away from her three sisters, so that means she really wanted to play with this by herself. That's a good sign.
