Nerves of Steel is the inspirational true story of Tammie Jo Shults's remarkable life--from growing up the daughter of a rancher, dreaming of someday becoming a pilot, to breaking through as one of the Navy's first female F/A-18 Hornet pilots, to saving lives as the captain of Flight 1380.

Twenty minutes into a routine domestic flight, Captain Tammie Jo Shults is faced with the unthinkable--a catastrophic engine failure in her Boeing 737 causes an explosion that severs hydraulic and fuel lines, tearing away sections of the plane, puncturing a window, and taking a woman's life. Captain Shults and her first officer, Darren Ellisor, struggle to stabilize the aircraft. The passengers gasp for their next breath and fear for their lives. They need a strong hand to guide them and assurance that they will survive.

Nerves of Steel is the inspirational story of a remarkable woman who beat the odds and fulfilled her dreams of chasing adventure in the sky. Tammie Jo's upbringing on a ranch in New Mexico taught her the value of hard work. She also learned that gender doesn't have to determine job assignments as daily chores were delegated evenly between her and her brother. And living on the edge of a hundred miles of nothing fostered other virtues that would serve her well--independence and confidence in her abilities to live, work, and, if necessary, survive.

Reading books about pilots and watching Air Force trainees hone their skills in the skies over their ranch instilled in Tammie Jo a love for the adventure of flying. And thinking she could possibly fly as well as serve her country birthed a dream. Though the odds--as well as the recruiters--were against her, her tenacity eventually paid off. Through dogged determination and a healthy dose of God's grace, she earned her Navy wings of gold and went on to become one of the first females to fly the F/A-18 Hornet. After serving her country honorably for eight years, she left the Navy and joined Southwest Airlines in the early 1990s.

On April 17, 2018, Tammie Jo was called to service once again. Drawing deeply from her well of experience, she was able to wrestle her severely damaged 737 safely to the ground. Not originally scheduled for that flight, there is no doubt God had prepared her and placed her right where she needed to be that day.

Not as durable as advertised.
This hose is not as durable as advertised. First time I used it and didn't work. The hose itself was slit or had some other issue with the band inside because water leaked through the hose and did not reach the nozzle. Update: I wrote to the manufacturer of the hose, Pocket Hose, regarding the defective hose. On May 30, 2026, they agreed to replace my hose under their warranty. On June 2, 2026, I received an email from them stating they recently updated their warranty policy to 30 days, and my notice was outside their 30-day warranty period. I then received an email from the seller of the hose, Bulb Head offering me a full refund on the hose. Something the manufacturer would not do. All I wanted was a replacement. I am changing my rating for the seller to 5 Stars for standing behind the sale of their product. Thank you, Bulb Head!

Great hose
Style: Regular, Size: 150 FT
I love these hoses. Length:I have a 50’ for the front yard and 150’ hose for the backyard. Nozzle is perfect for watering flowers, garden or great for washing the car. Flexible: Lightweight and so easy to move around. Turn off the water at the house and let it drain out the nozzle. Doesn’t take long to drain and return to original length. Durability is excellent. Connectivity is so easy.

Great product until it split
We bought the pocket hose 100’ copperhead expandable garden hose through Amazon from Bulbhead April 2025. We love the fact that it is light, retracts, doesn’t kink and came with a versatile nozzle. However, 13 months later, the hose split overnight, leaking an unknown amount of water to the street and eliminating water pressure in our house. Once we found the leak, we contacted the company. We were told there was a 30 day warranty and that our product was no longer covered. I’m not sure what product would break down in 30 days! I was asked if I could be compensated at all and they said no, there are discounts on the website. I will never buy this product through this company again as their customer service is lacking. Nothing was offered as a personal discount for their defective product.

reliable filters at a great price
Pattern Name: 16x20x1, Style: Merv 8
I've been using these Amazon Basics air filters for a while now, and they've been a great value. They fit perfectly, are easy to install, and do a good job of trapping dust, pollen, and other airborne particles. Since switching to these filters, I've noticed less dust around the house and my HVAC system seems to run efficiently. The MERV 8 rating provides solid everyday filtration without restricting airflow.

Amazon Basics MERV 11 Filters: Solid Performance Without the Premium Price
Pattern Name: 20x20x1, Style: Merv 11
Amazon Basics MERV 11 Filters: Solid Performance Without the Premium Price I’ve been using these Amazon Basics 20x20x1 MERV 11 filters in my home HVAC system, and overall they’ve been a very dependable option for routine filter changes. I like buying them in a 6-pack because it takes the hassle out of remembering to reorder every couple of months, and the per-filter cost is noticeably lower than the big-name brands at the hardware store. Installation is straightforward. The actual size fits my return slot properly with no bending or forcing, and airflow has remained strong. With MERV 11, these strike a nice balance for my setup — noticeably better dust and pollen capture than basic MERV 5 or 8 filters, but without putting obvious strain on the system. After about a month of use, the filters clearly show they’re doing their job, collecting a visible layer of dust and fine debris. A few things to keep in mind. The cardboard frame isn’t as rigid as some premium filters, and they’re a bit thinner than brands like Filtrete. They’ve held up fine for me during normal use, but I wouldn’t try to stretch them much past the recommended replacement interval. Also, if you have an older or low-powered HVAC system, MERV 11 may be more filtration than you need — in that case, a lower MERV option might make more sense. Bottom line: These Amazon Basics MERV 11 filters are a practical, budget-friendly choice that deliver solid filtration and good airflow for regular HVAC maintenance, as long as you stick to timely replacements and don’t expect premium-brand rigidity.
