Shaneera is the English mispronunciation of the Arabic word shanee'a, literally meaning "outrageous, nefarious, hideous, major and foul. 'In one iteration of the word, as queer slang used in Kuwait and some Arab countries, a positive and desirable light is shed on these attributes. Shaneera refers to a gender-defying persona, of being an evil queen. You know a Shaneera when you behold one.Over five energetic club tracks, Al Qadiri explores this dark-sided character with friends Bobo Secret (the leading vocalist on the record), Lama3an, Chaltham, and Naygow, in their debut recorded appearance. The lyrics are suggestive, imploring, shady and loving, some original and some re-recorded material from Grindr chats, online drag and femme comedy skits. The language is a mixture of Kuwaiti and Egyptian Arabic, and one Iraqi proverb, Sonically, the record combines Khaleeji (Arab Gulf), Western drum kits and Arabesque melodies. On the cover, Al Qadiri appears as Shaneera, her evil extreme femme alter ego, the design inspired by stale pop diva record cover imagery from the Arab world. Conceptually, the EP follows Al Qadiri's long term exploration of gender identity and performance in the Gulf. Her natural look, at odds with the conventional presentation and performance of femininity in the region, is transformed on the cover into a maximum femme look inspired by a mid 2000s Kuwaiti trend of extreme makeup. What would pass at a cursory glance as femme drag was actually the norm at a specific time in Kuwaiti women's fashion.'Shaneera' the record lands somewhere in an undisclosed setting and is a love letter to evil and benevolent queens around the world.A1. Great beginner book but should have covered layout
Format: Kindle
I've done HTML and made an attempt to learn CSS before. This book is a GREAT choice for beginners as well as myself. The examples are pretty easy to follow and made sense. Most of all this was THE book on CSS I was looking for. My previous attempt to learn CSS was overly complicated and convoluted and left me completely confused on CSS and barely able to get the job done. Perhaps it was because it was for the specific software I was using rather than just CSS. Regardless, after this book I feel confident with CSS now and was surprised how easy it actually is when properly explained.
My only complaint on this book is that I think it should have covered page layout with parent DIVs and child DIVs or page layout in general. That's definitely the next thing to learn after reading this book. But I was able to easily find a video on page layout after reading the book and took it to the next level. This book prepared me for that and got me to a place where I was ready for that.
Hopefully the next version of the book will include page layout techniques to give your website a more professional look.
I'm giving it 5 stars because page layout and graphic design really probably are intermediate topics. So, for an HTML and CSS book, this really "hit the spot"!

Easy to follow for a beginner!
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
It’s easy to follow and understand, like putting a puzzle together following step by step instructions eventually feeling more and more confident. You will learn how to build a website starting with HTML. Love the exercises and snippets. If you never used VS code text editor, I suggest watching video on social media about VScode editor if you use this book. VS is a great code editor and it’s free. Pro tip- install live preview from extensions from your explorer pane, it saves time refreshing a browser to see your work and refreshes in real time as you build and style your pages. The book will go into detail about more technical terms as you move through the chapters. I am a student in Front End Web development and everything internet. This book does a good job identifying some of the technical terms of how browsers display HTML documents in a viewport leading up to responsive design. This book is beginner friendly. I don’t think you need any knowledge of HTML, or CSS to start with this book. You don’t need to be an IT technician either, just a simple understanding of how the internet works. You do need to have an interest in learning to code though because it can be a learning curve. Persistence, patience, and lots of practice will make you successful and that’s the payoff. Buy with confidence!

A Solid Book & Place To Start!
Format: Paperback
So far I'm enjoing this book and I do recommend it for beginners and novice programmers alike. It's a sold read and an extremely solid place to start. I knocked off a star because it also does tend to be a little longer than needed.

One of the standout features of this book is its stunning design. Each page is meticulously crafted with vibrant colors, clear diagrams, and engaging layouts, making complex concepts easy to understand and visually appealing.
