The Maxwell Land Grant was an immense parcel of land in New Mexico and Colorado with a history that began when the area was a colony of Spain and ended only in the twentieth century. In this volume, published originally in an edition of 250 numbered and signed copies, F. Stanley (Father Stanley Francis Louis Crocchiola) takes on the task of telling the complex story. In his foreword, Stanley says: "Look in vain for another section of land in the nation that produced so much comment from the press or absorbed the attention of the entire world. Because of this bit of land a Supreme Court Justice almost lost his life; a president of the United States wanted to horse-whip a man; a minister was looked upon as a killer; a cattle man became a killer; vigilantes rode into the night burning and killing; and the Anti-Grant War was waged in two states taking more lives than the Lincoln County War that brought Billy the Kid his fame." Stanley has been faulted for his scholarship and for stylistic flaws that are probably reflections of the speed it took him to publish the amazing number of books and pamphlets he produced. His narrative is chatty and anecdotal, with few of the accoutrements of establishment history. Still, he has mined newspapers, trial transcripts, and a variety of documents to produce a broad account of the area. He includes chapters on ghost towns as well as "living" towns, the railroads, Indians on the grant, and a full chapter on Clay Allison, whom Stanley regarded as a more interesting character than Billy the Kid. The original edition is probably the scarcest of Stanley's books. "An easterner by birth but a southwesterner at heart, Father Stanley Francis Louis Crocchiola had as many vocations as names," says his biographer, Mary Jo Walker. "As a young man, he entered the Catholic priesthood and for nearly half a century served his church with great zeal in various capacities, attempting to balance the callings of teacher, pastor, historian and writer." With limited money or free time, he also managed to write and publish one hundred and seventy-seven books and booklets pertaining to his adopted region under his "nom de plume," F. Stanley, The initial in that name does not stand for Father, as many have assumed, but for Francis, which Louis Crocchiola took, with the name Stanley, at the time of his ordination as Franciscan friar in 1938. All of F. Stanley's titles have now reached the status of expensive collector's items.

BDEUS Twin Mattress Topper, So Soft
Color: Green, Size: Twin, Color: Green, Size: Twin
Having purchased BDEUS products in the past, I was very looking forward to ordering the mattress topper made of viscose (a material derived from bamboo) just to see (and feel) the benefits of the material. My concern about the material, viscose derived from bamboo, is that the process to manufacture the material can be chemically intensive leading to harsh smells. I can say the topper has no off-putting smells. The quality of the manufacturing is present as there are no loose threads/seams, the material has no defects, and the print is uniform. The use of the material also leads to increased durability while enhancing the topper’s breathability and cooling properties. The topper is fitted meaning the topper will not come off the mattress very easily (even though you may need sheet straps if you are a wild sleeper). But the softness is wild, I mean this has to be one of the softest materials I have felt, and it feels very luxurious. Waterproofing and moisture-wicking is also a benefit as small spills are not absorbed into the fabric. The topper is also very thick and plush, and while the product listing touts “Back Pain Relief” it may be too soft depending on how firm, or soft, you prefer your mattress. I have to say this is definitely a five-star offering from BDEUS. This topper is for my daughter but I’m going to order a queen-sized topper for my bed as the price is just right.

This topper has definitely provided me with better, more comfortable sleep.
Color: Green, Size: Twin
I recently tried a twin mattress topper made from bamboo-derived viscose, and I'm quite impressed. The topper is thick, waterproof, and offers excellent comfort, especially for those who struggle with back pain or sleep hot. The bamboo and polyester blend gives it a soft, cooling surface that's perfect for a restful night's sleep without the sweaty feeling often associated with memory foam. What I really appreciate is its dual function. It's breathable, allowing for good air flow, and fully waterproof, which helps keep the mattress underneath safe from spills. This is especially useful if you have kids or pets. The topper's thickness is just right—it provides great support without feeling too soft or too firm. It cradles pressure points well, offering relief to my hips, back, and shoulders. The fluffy filling holds up well over time, maintaining its softness and support. It fits securely on mattresses, thanks to a deep pocket skirt that prevents any sliding or bunching. This topper has definitely provided me with better, more comfortable sleep.

Soft and comfy
Color: Green, Size: Twin, Color: Green, Size: Twin
This mattress pad is much thicker and fluffier than the one I had before. With I took it out of the package, it was vacuum sealed with a note saying to leave it out in the sun for 48-72 hours or fluff it up with a hair dryer. I put it in the dryer on medium heat, which worked nicely. The pockets are really deep on this mattress pad and it fits snug. You don’t really see the shape with a sheet on top. It feels comfortable laying on top of it. It doesn’t flatten much when I’m laying down, but I imagine over time it will lose fluffiness. Overall it’s comfortable and breathable.

Good for already soft mattresses, 1in thickness.
Color: Dark Grey, Size: Queen
If your mattress is already soft, it will help. It's less than 1in thick after tumbling for 40 minutes. It did fit my queen bed and felt somewhat soft when laying down but it didn't help much as far as comfort. Quality wise it looks good, not cheap and while my sleep quality wasn't improved, it might help someone with a better mattress than mine.
