Original blue cloth in good condition. Edited and with a valuable 30 page introduction by Montague Summers. An early anthology of classic tales: Vampyre by John Polidori, Leixlip Castle by Charles Maturin, Schalken The Painter by Sheridan Le Fanu, which is the frontispiece plate illustration by Phiz from Le Fanu's Ghost Stories & Tales of Mystery and is here reproduced for the first time since 1851.
Condition: Faded, creased and worn spine, ends bumped. Stains to cloth. Signs of label removal to rear endpaper. Foxing to fore page edges and to some leaves in the margin. To Montague's introduction some pencil notations in margin and stain to couple of leaves. Firm text. Name and date to endpaper with tear to tail edge. Pencil notation to endpaper. Bumped corners and worn board edges. Kept in protective cover.
