The Messerschmitt Me509 was a fighter jet planned by Germany during World War II. Its design was based on the Me309, but the engine was located behind the cockpit like Bell's P-39 Air Cobra. Equipped with a Daimler-Benz DB605B engine driving a three-bladed propeller. The main weapons are two 13mm MG131 machine guns and two 20mm MG151/20 cannons. The front three-point landing gear of the Me309 is retained, and the working environment of the front landing gear of the Me509 has been greatly improved compared with that of the Me309, because the weight of the nose is lighter, and the nose landing gear of the Me309 once broke. Because the head is not shorter, the vision is better. The program was later conjoined with the Me309, but Japan had built a similar aircraft, the Yokosuka R2Y "Jingyun" which suffered from engine overheating.
