The Royal Australian Mint’s 2025 Koala Series celebrates one of the country’s most loved and recognisable species. Featuring four coin products, the second release in the Koala Series includes a 50c Uncirculated Coin for the first time, which will be sold in Australia only.
The Royal Australian Mint’s 2025 Koala Series, comprising of four coin products, follows the success of the 2024 Koala Series. The $1 Fine Silver Investment Coin is accompanied by a $100 Gold Investment Coin, $5 Fine Silver High Relief Coin, and for the first time, a 50c Uncirculated Coin featuring the same koala design.
Adorned with a mother and baby koala nestled together on a tree branch, the endearing design will appeal to entry level collectors and lovers of Australian wildlife. The simple yet striking background of eucalyptus leaves and gum nuts ensures the koalas stand out. Koalas have mastered the art of sleeping and eating.
They are often spotted contently munching on gum leaves or fast asleep in the fork of a eucalyptus tree. Although plentiful in some areas, koalas are a vulnerable species in New South Wales, with housing developments and farming leading to their population decline.
