The Roval Rapide CLX essentially combines the aerodynamic excellence of the CLX64 with the lightweight and gentlemanly handling of the CLX 32. The result is a wheelset that delivers maximum speed in conditions found in real-world riding; climbing performance, slippery efficiency of a dedicated aero setup, and stable, confident handling, regardless of wind conditions.

The goal of the Roval Rapide CLX wheels was to make the fastest wheelset for real-world riding and racing. In the design process Roval discovered that instability at the hand of wind gusts significantly reduces speed or at worst causes crashes. With this in mind, Roval set out to reduce the impact of side gusts through tireless aerodynamic testing.

Since the front wheel causes the majority of instability from gusts, this was the first place to start in the design process. The front rim is wider and shallower than the rear which in turn boosts stability and produces impressively low drag. The rear wheel impacts stability much less, therefore it is optimized more singularly on reducing drag. Together the wheels yield less drag than most 65mm deep dish wheels but with 25% less steering torque from wind gusts than the Roval CLX 50s.
