“My Griffon Mountainclaw will rip through any Hippogriff you could put him against!” fumed the High Elf Ailion. The high elves and wood elves have much in common, but their preferred choice of war mounts always sparks a hot debate.
“Ha!” Harathiel the wood elf exclaimed. “You’d never catch me to get in a decent thrust! Give me the superior speed and maneuverability of Hesperos any day! Puts me in much better striking position.” Harathiel was of course speaking of her beloved hippogriff mount, Hesperos.
The wood elves’ recent success in the battle of Karthanon made the value of the once-discounted Hippogriff mount painfully clear to even the most zealous of Griffon stablemasters. Harathiel understood that Hesperos’ unwavering loyalty made him much easier to manage on and off the battlefield than Mountainclaw. Even Ailion could see that Harathiel and Hesperos shared a special bond. Come to think of it, all the Wood Elves seemed to have special bonds with their Hippogriff mounts…
