The brain is always active with measurable electric impulses. There are five measurable brain wave states. Each state is associated with different states of consciousness and different levels of activity.

These tuning forks were created with a process called Brain Entrainment in mind. The idea is that the brain can be trained to synchronize with these desired states by activating the corresponding frequency either with single Hz frequencies or by using binaural beats (the use of two fundamental frequencies to create a third, desired frequency, the difference between them).
