The piece of limestone matrix measures 85 mm (3.35 inches) tall and the fossil ammonite measures 32 mm (1.3 inches), which is large for this species, especially considering it is missing part of the outer whorl and so may have been even bigger in life. The ammonite is very well preserved and has been prepared out of the rock to reveal the shell. The ribs are finely defined, and the pure yellow colour is beautiful.
These calcite ammonites make great unique gifts for the nature lover in your life! A great example of the species and impressive in the flesh. The fossil weighs 370 grams and has a cut flat base to allow it to stand freely for display.
Around 196 million years old (Sinemurian, Early Jurassic), this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
